Alright, alright, let’s talk about these naked rugby men, you know, the ones all over the internet. I saw some pictures, and let me tell ya, it’s somethin’ else. First off, why they gotta be naked? I don’t get it. Back in my day, boys played rugby with their clothes on, and nobody complained. But I guess times change, huh?
So, from what I gather, this whole naked rugby thing started a while back. Some fella, Nick Youngquest, I think his name was, he took his clothes off for a calendar back in 2006. Showed off his muscles and all that. And then, it just kinda took off. More and more fellas started doin’ it, whole teams even.
Now, they got these calendars and stuff, pictures everywhere. They say it’s for a good cause, you know, “body positivity” they call it, and somethin’ about “male cancer awareness”. Well, that’s all fine and good, I guess. But still, it’s a bit much for an old lady like me. I mean, I’ve seen plenty of men in my life, but not usually like this. It’s like, everywhere you look, another naked rugby player.
- There’s this one team, the Manchester Village Spartans, they’re in on it too. They got their own calendar, and let me tell ya, those boys are… well, they’re naked.
- And it ain’t just one or two guys, it’s a whole bunch of ’em. They say there’s been over 15 teams from the UK involved since 2017. That’s a lot of naked fellas running around, if you ask me.
- There was even some kinda scandal, “Bloodgate” they called it. Somethin’ about a fella fakin’ an injury with fake blood. Sounds messy to me. And nothin’ to do with being naked, but still… messy.
They even got these things called “scrum caps” some of ’em wear. I guess it’s to protect their heads or somethin’, specially if they got hurt before. Makes sense, I guess, rugby’s a rough game, even if you got your clothes on… or not, as the case may be.
So, what’s the big deal with these naked rugby men? Well, some folks like it, I reckon. They think it’s brave, showin’ off their bodies and all. And like I said, they say it’s for a good cause. But me? I just don’t see the need for it. Rugby’s a good game, a tough game. Why they gotta take their clothes off to play it?
And all this talk about “hypermasculine values” and how rugby is used to make fun of women… I don’t know about all that fancy talk. Seems to me, boys will be boys, and they’ll find a way to show off, whether they got clothes on or not. It’s just a different way of showin’ off now, I guess. With the internet and all, everybody wants to see everything, and these fellas are just givin’ the people what they want. Or so they say.
Anyway, that’s what I make of it. A whole lotta naked fellas playin’ rugby, takin’ pictures, and makin’ calendars. Some folks like it, some folks don’t. Me? I’m just an old lady tryin’ to make sense of it all. But hey, if it makes ’em happy, and it’s for a good cause, who am I to judge? Just keep them clothes handy, boys, it gets cold out there!
But you know what? Boys can do what they wants. It aint hurting nobody. If they wants to run around with no clothes on playing rugby, well, good for them. It takes all sorts to make a world.
And from what I hear, some of the people liking it ain’t all ladies, either! Seems like fellas like lookin’ at other fellas, just as much as the gals. And more power to ’em. Live and let live, that’s what I always say.
So there ya have it. Naked rugby men. It’s a thing. A big thing, apparently. And whether ya like it or not, it ain’t goin’ away anytime soon. So might as well get used to it. Or just look the other way, like I do half the time.
