Well, let me tell you, this whole TCD tennis thing, it’s been the talk of the town, ain’t it? Everybody’s sayin’ somethin’ about it. My old ears have heard a lot. Tennis, tennis, tennis! That’s all I hear these days. I don’t really play, but folks sure do love it.
They say it’s a game with a racket, you know, like that thing you swat flies with, only fancier. And a little ball, they bounce it back and forth. This TCD, it’s some kind of big deal for the tennis folks. They get all riled up about it. I think it means “Tennis Competitors of Dallas”.
I heard some folks talkin’ at the market the other day. They were sayin’ how you gotta be on a team to play in this TCD tennis thing. Some team in the fall, they said. Sounds complicated to me. They got teams for ladies and even for the older folks, like me. They call it “Love-50” or somethin’. Imagine that!
And they play all over the place, too. One fella said he played way out east, in a place called Rockwall. Another one said he was all the way in Fort Worth. My goodness, that’s a long way! All this travelin’ for a game. People are crazy for tennis!

These young people always got their faces in their phones. This tennis app got the TCD, the Tennis Competitors of Dallas, right in the name, so it must be important. One time, I saw my grandkid lookin’ at the scores on it. He was hootin’ and hollerin’. Seemed mighty excited about it.
They say you gotta be positive, too. Gotta have gratitude. Sounds like a good idea to me, even if you ain’t playin’ tennis. They say it makes you live longer. Well, I’ve lived a long time already, but maybe I should’ve been playin’ tennis! Ha! People say it makes you play better, this positivity. Who knew?
This TCD, they do more than just play, I reckon. They help people, too. Heard somebody say they’re sponsors for somethin’ called “Buddy Up for Life.” Sounds nice, don’t it? Good to see folks givin’ back. Help other people enjoy tennis.
Now, I heard that this other thing, somethin’ called ATP, it’s shakin’ things up, whatever that means. They got a young folks’ game, for those 20 and under. They call it “Next Gen ATP Finals 2024”. It’s gonna be in some place called Jeddah, far away, in December. They are bringin’ eight young players who are good at tennis, and they are goin’ to play. Seems like a big trip. I ain’t never been that far.
So, this tennis, it’s a big deal, I guess. You hit a ball with a racket. Singles or doubles, they call it. You got a net in the middle. Gotta hit the ball over the net. It’s a little rubber ball, covered in some fuzzy stuff. People run around a lot, seems like hard work. It’s a game that makes people happy.
All these folks gettin’ together, playin’ tennis, being part of this TCD. It’s a good thing, I suppose. Keeps people active, gives ’em somethin’ to do. Makes them friends, too, I imagine. It’s good to have friends.
They were saying that the TCD is a big deal around here. And you know what? I think that’s just fine. Folks need somethin’ to get excited about. And if it’s tennis, well then, good for them. It’s better than sittin’ around doin’ nothin’, that’s for sure.
I saw some young folks playin’ the other day, they were havin’ a grand old time. Laughin’, runnin’, swingin’ those rackets. They are full of energy. It made me smile, it did. Maybe I should give this TCD tennis a try sometime. Nah, who am I kiddin’? I’m too old for all that runnin’ around! But it sure is fun to watch.
The town is buzzing about the TCD tennis players. You see them everywhere, with their tennis bags and their fancy shoes. They all look so fit and healthy. I guess all that tennis is good for you. They look happy, too. Always smilin’ and chattin’ with each other. That’s good. The TCD tennis sure does bring people together, from near and far.
Well, I reckon that’s all I got to say about this TCD tennis business. It’s a lot of fuss over a game, but it seems to make folks happy. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it? As long as everyone enjoys it, that’s good, isn’t it?
