Okay, today I tried to play a small ball game. You know what I mean? It’s like when a basketball team decides to use smaller, faster guys instead of the usual tall dudes.
So, first, I had to figure out my team. I picked my quickest friends, the ones who can run up and down the court like crazy. We didn’t have any super tall guys, but we were all pretty good at handling the ball and shooting.
- I started to dribble. I practiced moving the ball quickly and keeping it low to the ground. It felt different than when I play with taller guys, but I got the hang of it after a few tries.
- Next, I worked on passing. I tried to make quick, sharp passes to my teammates. It was all about getting the ball to the open guy as fast as possible. We did some drills where we just passed the ball around in a circle, trying to keep it moving without any mistakes.
- After that, I focused on shooting. Since we were smaller, we had to be able to shoot from further away. I practiced shooting from different spots on the court, trying to get a good arc on the ball. We did a game where we had to make a certain number of shots from each spot before we could move on.
- Then, I had to think about defense. Even though we were smaller, we could still be tough on defense. I practiced staying low and moving my feet quickly to stay in front of the other team. We did a drill where we had to try to steal the ball from each other without fouling.
- Finally, I worked on rebounding. This was probably the hardest part since we were smaller. I had to learn how to box out the bigger guys and jump high to grab the ball. We practiced jumping and grabbing the ball at its highest point.
After practicing all these things, we played a game. It was different, but it was a lot of fun! We had to move the ball quickly, and we took a lot of shots from the outside. We lost some rebounds, but we made up for it with our speed and shooting.
It felt like a good day
We learned that you don’t have to be tall to play basketball. You just have to be quick, smart, and work together as a team. I think we’ll try playing small ball again sometime.
