You know, where they try to get the little ball in the hole? It’s gotta be real smooth, I reckon, so the ball rolls just right. So, creeping bentgrass is good for that, they say. Keeps things nice and even.

And then there is also Poa annua. They also use this one on putting greens. They say one square foot of putting green can have more than 10,000 grass plants. That’s a lot of grass plants, huh? It is many, many grass.
You know, they even have grass ’round them sand traps. Them bunkers, they call ’em. Even that needs the right kind of grass, they say. It’s all so complicated! Back in my day, we just played in the field with whatever was growing there. Didn’t need no fancy grass names.
So, you see, there’s a lot to this golf grass thing. It ain’t as simple as it looks. They got all these different kinds, each one for a different part of the course. And they all gotta be just right, or else them golfers get all upset. They need that golf course grass to be perfect, I suppose.
Choosing the right grass for golf is important. If you want a nice golf course, you gotta pick the right one. Different grass for different parts of the course. Some like it hot, some like it cool. Just like people, I guess! You gotta know what you’re doing, or it’ll all be a mess.
I heard them talking ’bout cool-season grass and warm-season grass. I reckon that means some grass likes the cold, and some likes the heat. Just like me! I prefer the warm weather myself. Don’t like that cold wind one bit.
So, if you’re thinking ’bout planting some golf course grass, you better do your research. Find out what kind is best for your area. You don’t want to plant the wrong thing. That’d be a waste of time and money. You gotta pick the best grass for golf greens.
