Alright, let’s yak about this rugby thing, the USA versus France, you know? I ain’t no expert, but I watched some of it on that there telly-vision box. It was kinda excitin’, kinda confusin’ too, all that runnin’ and bumpin’ into each other.
So, first off, USA was playin’ hard, real hard. Them boys were scrappy, like little terriers fightin’ over a bone. They weren’t as big as them French fellas, I tell ya. Them Frenchies, they were big as barns, some of ’em! But the USA boys, they didn’t care. They just kept chargin’ in, tacklin’ low and tryin’ to grab that there ball.
I saw this one play, where one of the USA boys, he was little, but quick, like a weasel, he dodged and weaved through all them big Frenchies and almost got it across the line. Almost! Then, boom, one of them big fellas tackled him somethin’ fierce. Knocked him right on his behind, he did. But he got back up, the USA boy, dusted himself off and kept on playin’. That’s what I like to see, grit and determination!
Now, France, they were somethin’ else. They were smooth, like butter on a hot biscuit, you know? They passed that ball around real nice, fast and slick. And them fellas could kick, too! They’d kick that ball way up in the air, and it’d go so high, you almost lost it in the sun. And then, bam, one of their boys would catch it and run like the wind.
- They were organized, the French, I’d say. They knew where to be, when to be there.
- USA was scrappier, more like just goin’ for it, full tilt.
- Sometimes France played like they were thinkin’ too much, maybe. Like they were tryin’ to be too fancy. That’s when the USA boys would get ’em, steal the ball and run with it.
The score, well, I don’t rightly remember the exact numbers. It was somethin’ like…France had more points, I know that much. They won, I think. But the USA boys, they gave ’em a run for their money, they sure did. They didn’t give up, not for a second. Even when they were tired, and hurtin’, they kept on fightin’. That’s what counts, I reckon.
There were these things called “tries”, I learned. That’s when they get the ball over the line, I think. And “conversions”, those were kicks after a try. Confusin’ stuff, but I think I got the hang of it. And there was lots of whistles blowin’, and the ref, he’d be yellin’ somethin’ all the time. Couldn’t understand most of it, but I guess it was important.
This rugby, it ain’t like football, not really. It’s rougher, I think. More runnin’, more tacklin’. No helmets or pads like in football, just them little mouth guards. These boys are tough, real tough. Gotta be, to play a game like that. I’m not sure I like watching it all the time, it’s too rough for me. But I sure admire those boys, both the USA and the French. They put their hearts into it, that’s for sure.
I heard someone say this was a big match, somethin’ about “Autumn Nations Series”. Sounded important. Guess it was. France is one of the best, that’s what they say. And the USA, well, they’re gettin’ better, I think. They fought hard, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of. They’ll get there, eventually. Just gotta keep practicin’, keep fightin’. Maybe next time, they’ll beat them Frenchies. You never know.
In the end, it was a good game, even if I didn’t understand all the rules. It was excitin’, and that’s all that matters, right? I mean, who don’t like to watch a good scrap now and then? Just hope them boys don’t get hurt too bad, playin’ like that.
So yeah, that’s what I thought about that there rugby game. USA versus France. A good fight, it was. A real good fight.
