UAA Basketball Players: Stats, Highlights, and Player Profiles
Alright, so you wanna know about this UAA basketball, huh? Lemme tell ya, it’s a whole lotta runnin’ and jumpin’ with a ball. I ain’t no expert, but I can tell ya what I see. It’s like, these young fellas, they go up and down the court, throwin’ that ball around, tryin’ to get it in the hoop. Sounds simple enough, right? Ha! You try doin’ it for a whole game, see how easy it is.
University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves, that’s what they call ’em. Fancy name, ain’t it? They got a whole team of these boys, all wearin’ the same colors, runnin’ around like chickens with their heads cut off. But they know what they’re doin’, most of the time. They got coaches yellin’ at ’em from the sidelines, tellin’ ’em where to go and what to do. It’s like a big ol’ dance, but with a ball and a lotta sweat.
Now, they play in this thing called the University Athletic Association. Sounds important, I guess. They play against other schools, other teams of boys runnin’ and jumpin’. It’s like a big competition, see who’s the best at throwin’ that ball in the hoop. They keep track of who wins and who loses, got standings and all that. It’s serious business, this basketball stuff.
I heard tell they got some good players on the Seawolves team. They even got one fella, Spencer Freedman, they called him the Player of the Year. That’s a big deal, I reckon. Means he’s real good at throwin’ that ball and gettin’ it in the hoop. And this Aeden Using from Brandeis University, he’s another one they talk about. Sounds like these boys know their way around a basketball court.

- They got a schedule, that tells you when they play.
- They got scores, that tells you who won and by how much.
- They got news, that tells you what’s happenin’ with the team.
- They even got stats, numbers and all that, to tell you how good each player is. I don’t understand all them numbers, but some folks like ’em.
They got this thing called the Alaska Cup too. Sounds like a big trophy or somethin’. The Seawolves skiers, they won that, not the basketball fellas. But it’s all part of the same school, the University of Alaska Anchorage. They got all kinds of sports goin’ on up there, not just basketball.
And these players, they work hard. They practice all the time, runnin’ and jumpin’ and throwin’ that ball. They gotta be in good shape, gotta be strong and fast. And they gotta be smart too, gotta know what plays to run, gotta know how to work together as a team. It ain’t just about throwin’ the ball in the hoop, it’s about thinkin’ and strategizin’ and workin’ together.
Sometimes they win, sometimes they lose. That’s just how it is, life ain’t always easy, just like gettin’ that ball in the hoop ain’t always easy. But them boys, they keep tryin’, they keep playin’ hard. They got pride, them Seawolves. They representin’ their school, representin’ Anchorage, representin’ Alaska. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of, I reckon.
Anyways, that’s what I know ‘bout this UAA basketball. It’s a lot of runnin’, a lot of jumpin’, and a whole lot of tryin’ to get that ball in the hoop. And it’s excitin’ to watch, even for an old lady like me.
So next time you see somethin’ about the Seawolves, or you hear about this Spencer Freedman fella, or this University Athletic Association, you’ll know a little somethin’ about it. It’s just boys throwin’ a ball, but it’s also a whole lot more than that. It’s about teamwork, it’s about tryin’ your best, and it’s about representin’ where you come from. And that’s somethin’ I can understand, even if I don’t know all them fancy basketball terms.
Rochester? Now, what’s that got to do with it? Maybe they play there sometimes, maybe another university is there. I dunno. All I know is UAA basketball is in Alaska, and them boys play hard.
AAU basketball? More players, more teams, all over the place, I guess. Sounds like a lot more runnin’ and jumpin’ to me.
