TSSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament 2024: Brackets and Schedule
Alright, let’s talk about this TSSAA boys basketball thingy, the one they had in 2024. You know, the one with all them young fellas runnin’ around, throwin’ the ball.
First off, I heard tell you gotta pay to get in. Twelve dollars if you buy your ticket online ahead of time. That GoFan thing, whatever that is. Sounds fancy. But if you wait, it’s gonna cost ya fifteen dollars at the gate. Fifteen dollars! That’s a lot of money, I tell ya. Could buy a whole mess of grits with that.
Now, they had these things called “brackets.” Like, maps, I guess, showin’ who plays who. They had ’em for all the different classes, like 1A and 4A and all that. You could find them online at this * place. I wouldn’t know how to get there myself, mind you. Too much clickin’ and tappin’ for this old lady.
They played the games at some place called Murphy Center, at Middle Tennessee State University. Sounded like a big deal. Lots of teams fightin’ for four state titles. Four! That’s a whole bunch of basketball, if you ask me. I bet them boys were tired.
- They had somethin’ called “semifinal Friday.” That’s when they figured out who’s gonna play in the finals. Eight games, they said. My goodness, that’s a lot of hoopin’ and hollerin’.
- And folks were lookin’ up scores and stats and stuff. Who scored the most, I reckon. They called ’em “stat leaders.” Like they’re leadin’ a parade or somethin’.
- And then there was this “scoreboard” thing. Keeps track of who’s winnin’, I s’pose. Good for keepin’ track, I guess. I just like watchin’ the ball go in the net.
They had all sorts of teams. First Assembly Christian, whatever that is, they were playin’ too. Division II-A, they said. Too many divisions for me to keep track of, honestly. Just give me the ball and let’s play, that’s what I say.
This whole thing, they called it the Tennessee tournament. Or the TN Basketball Playoffs. Or even the 2024 TN Brackets. So many names for the same thing. Confusin’, if you ask me. They should just call it “basketball” and be done with it.
And they had people writin’ about it, too. The “media,” they called ’em. Takin’ pictures and writin’ stories. I guess that’s important, for folks who couldn’t be there. But I bet it wasn’t as good as seein’ it in person. Nothin’ beats the sound of the sneakers squeakin’ and the ball thumpin’, I tell ya.
So yeah, that’s the gist of it. A whole bunch of boys playin’ basketball, tryin’ to win a championship. Sounded like a good time, even if I didn’t understand all the fancy names and the online stuff. Just good ol’ fashioned basketball, that’s what it was. And that’s all that matters, right?
The important thing is, the kids had fun, I hope. And maybe learned a thing or two about teamwork and sportsmanship. That’s more important than any trophy, if you ask me. Though a trophy is nice too, I suppose. Shiny and all.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about it. Hope you understand it all, ’cause I’m plum tuckered out from talkin’ so much. Time for some sweet tea and a nap, I reckon.
