Well, howdy there! Let’s jaw about this Shaw University football, ya hear? It’s a bunch of young’uns runnin’ around with a pigskin, tryin’ to get it across the line. Shaw University football, that’s what they call it. Seems like a whole lotta fuss over a ball, if ya ask me.
Now, I ain’t no fancy city slicker, but I can tell ya, these boys at Shaw, they play in somethin’ called the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. CIAA for short, I reckon. They say it’s a big deal, this CIAA. Lots of schools playin’ against each other.
- They got this NCAA Division II thing goin’ on too.
- Sounds highfalutin’, don’t it? Division II. Like they got different levels of this football mess.
- But from what I gather, Shaw University, they’re in it, and they’re competin’.
These young fellas, they train hard. Runnin’ and jumpin’ and throwin’ that ball around. I seen ’em practicin’ sometimes, all sweaty and grunting. They gotta be strong, ya know? Gotta be tough to play this Shaw University football game. It ain’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure.
They got games, see? They play against other schools. And folks go and watch ’em. They cheer and holler, and sometimes they get all riled up. I don’t rightly understand it all, but it seems to make ’em happy. This football thing, it brings folks together, I guess.
Heard tell they keep track of all sorts of things. How many times they run with the ball, how many times they throw it, how many times they score. They call ’em stats. Sounds like a bunch of numbers to me. But I reckon it helps them figure out who’s good and who needs to practice more. You know, improve their game and such.
This Shaw University, they been doin’ this football thing for a while now. They’re a member and a co-founder of that CIAA, been around since way back when. Raleigh, North Carolina, that’s where they are. Big city, I hear. But they still got these boys playin’ football. It’s a tradition, I s’pose. Something they been doin’ for a long time.
And every year, ’round July or so, they start gettin’ ready for the new season. Gettin’ their gear together, gettin’ their plays sorted out. It’s a whole to-do, this Shaw Bears Football season. Lots of plannin’ and preparin’, I betcha.
Now, I ain’t gonna lie, I don’t know a touchdown from a field goal. But I do know that these boys work hard. They put their heart and soul into this football thing. And that’s somethin’ to be admired, ain’t it? Workin’ hard, tryin’ to be the best they can be.
So, if you’re ever in Raleigh, maybe go check out a Shaw University football game. See what all the fuss is about. You might enjoy it. Or you might just scratch your head and wonder what in tarnation is goin’ on. Either way, it’s somethin’ different, that’s for sure.
They got a website, I hear. You can find all sorts of information there. Schedules, stats, the whole shebang. But me? I’d rather just sit on the porch and watch the birds. Less confusin’, ya know? But good luck to them Shaw Bears, I say. May they win all their games, or whatever it is they’re supposed to do. This Shaw University Football, it’s their thing, and they seem to like it. That’s all there is to it, I reckon.
