Okay, so the other day I was looking at my backyard and thinking, “What’s missing?” Then it hit me – rugby goal posts! I mean, who doesn’t want to practice their kicks in their own backyard, right? So, I decided to build some.
Getting Started
First, I had to figure out the size. I did some quick searching and found some useful information. It looked like the distance between the posts is something you need to decide on, but there are some standard measurements. I took some measurements of my backyard and decided on a width that made sense for my space. I grabbed my tools and some PVC pipes ’cause they’re light and easy to work with, and I figured they’d do the trick. I also remembered seeing something about needing to adjust nuts and bolts, so I made sure I had those on hand, too.
Putting It Together
I started by marking out where the posts would go, and then I started digging. It was a bit of a workout, but I got the holes deep enough to make sure the posts would be stable. This is where the bottom nuts come in handy, I read about this somewhere. Next, I put the posts in place and started working on getting them upright. This was a bit tricky, and I had to do some adjusting to get them level. I lifted the crossbar, and honestly, it was heavier than I thought! I was a little tired and sweaty, I lifted and moved the crossbar, then did some more adjusting with those bottom nuts until everything looked right.
The Final Touches
Once the posts were up and level, I started attaching the crossbar. I just slid the PVC on top of the post by walking it up and lifting it on. This took some effort, but I managed to get it done. Then I connected everything, added some extra support to make sure it was all sturdy, and stepped back to admire my work. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, it was my very own set of rugby goal posts, and that’s what mattered!
Building these goal posts was a fun project. It took some time and effort, but in the end, it was totally worth it. Now I can practice my kicks whenever I want, and my backyard feels a little more complete. It feels so good! If you’re thinking about building something like this, I say go for it! It’s a great way to improve your skills and add something unique to your space. You just need to do a little digging on how to do it. It was a bit of work, but it’s really satisfying to see the finished product.
