Section V Girls Basketball Championships: Dates, Times, Venue
Alright, so, you wanna know about this Section V girls’ basketball, huh? Lemme tell ya, it’s a whole lotta fuss about girls runnin’ and throwin’ a ball. But folks get real worked up about it, so I guess it’s important.
Section V Girls’ Basketball: What’s the Big Deal?
Near as I can tell, this Section V thing, it’s like a big to-do where all the school girls play basketball against each other. They got different groups, see? They call ’em “classifications,” like Class D and Class AAA. Sounds fancy, but it just means they sort the girls by how good their teams are, I reckon. Like, the big city schools with all them fancy gyms, they play the other big schools. And the little country schools, they play each other. Makes sense, I guess. Don’t wanna see them little girls gettin’ squashed by them big ones, ya know?
They play a whole bunch of games, and the winners, they keep on playin’. And then, at the end, they have some kind of big championship game. This year, they’re doin’ it at some place called Finger Lakes Community College. Sounds nice, must be one of them fancy places with the shiny floors.
Who’s Good This Year?
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I hear folks talkin’. Seems like this Charles G Finney team in Class D, they’re pretty good. They’re the “top seed,” whatever that means. And Keshequa, they won last year, so they must be tough too. Then there’s Fairport, they moved up to a bigger group, AAA, and they’re supposed to be pretty good too. Lots of teams fightin’ for the title, that’s for sure.
- Class D: Charles G Finney’s the one to watch, and Keshequa’s tryin’ to win again.
- Class AAA: Fairport’s lookin’ strong, even though they moved up.
They got these games, see, semifinals and championships. Semifinals is like the second to last game, and then the championship is the big one. They play ’em at different places. Like, some of ’em are at Mount Morris. I don’t know where that is, but it sounds far. Championships are at that college place I told ya about.
How Do They Keep Score?
Well, it’s basketball, so they throw the ball in the hoop, right? More hoops you make, the more points you get. Simple as that. But they gotta follow all sorts of rules. Can’t just go around pushin’ and shovin’ each other, though sometimes I see ’em doin’ it anyway. And they gotta dribble the ball, can’t just hold it and run. Seems like a lot of work to me, but them girls sure do run fast.
And get this, the winning team has gotta go and put the scores in some kind of system. They say it’s on the Section V website or somethin’. I ain’t never seen it, but I guess that’s how they keep track of who’s winnin’ and losin’. They got phone numbers and addresses too, for this Section V place. Must be a big office with a whole lotta people workin’ there, keepin’ track of all them games.
Championship Week!
So this big championship weekend is comin’ up, and everyone’s gettin’ all excited. They’ll be playin’ all day, I bet, tryin’ to win them titles. It’s a big deal for these girls, ya know? They practice hard all year, and this is their chance to shine. And the parents, oh lordy, they get even more worked up than the girls do, I swear. Yellin’ and screamin’ from the sidelines. It’s somethin’ to see, I tell ya.
Anyway, that’s about all I know about this Section V girls’ basketball. It’s a bunch of girls playin’ ball, tryin’ to win a trophy. And a whole lotta folks makin’ a big fuss about it. But hey, that’s what makes life interestin’, right? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about basketball’s made me hungry.
So, if you wanna know more, maybe you can check out that website they got, *. Or give ’em a call, they got phone numbers too. But don’t ask me, I told you everything I know.
