Well, let me tell ya, that there rugby match between Scotland and England, it was somethin’ else, alright! They call it the Calcutta Cup, fancy name for a good ol’ scrap if you ask me.
Scotland done whooped England again, 30 to 21, that’s what the score was. Folks was sayin’ England was gonna be tough this year, but Scotland, they showed ’em, didn’t they? That big fella, Duhan van der Merwe, he was like a runaway tractor, just plowin’ through them English boys. Heard tell he scored a record or somethin’, good for him, I say.
- England started strong, mind you. Scored a quick try, that Furbank fella, fast as a rabbit he was.
- But Scotland, they just kept comin’, like a swarm of bees, buzzin’ and stingin’. They got some good kickers too, puttin’ the ball right where it needed to be.
Now, I ain’t no expert on this rugby stuff, but I know a good fight when I see one. And this was a good fight. Back and forth it went, England tryin’ to catch up, Scotland holdin’ ’em off. That other English boy, Feyi-Waboso, he scored a try too, but it weren’t enough, no sir.
They been playin’ this rugby for a long, long time, these two countries. Since way back in 1871, I heard someone say. England, they won most of the time, but Scotland, they been holdin’ onto that Cup for a few years now. Must make them English fellas mighty mad, losin’ all the time.
Murrayfield, that’s where they played, in Scotland. Packed full of folks, cheerin’ and yellin’. Made me think of a county fair, only with more hittin’ and less pie eatin’. Heard tell Twickenham, that’s where they play sometimes in England, gets just as rowdy.
This whole thing about who’s gonna win, it’s just a bunch of hooey if you ask me. Every year they say this one’s gonna win, that one’s gonna win. Just gotta wait and see, that’s what I say. Like waitin’ for the corn to grow, you can’t rush it.
Anyway, Scotland won, that’s all that matters. They got that big ol’ Cup, and them English boys gotta go home empty-handed. Maybe next year they’ll do better, maybe not. Who knows? Rugby’s a funny game, just like life, you never know what’s gonna happen.
Heard some folks talkin’ about predictions and who’s the favorite. Hogwash, I say! It’s like tryin’ to guess how many eggs a hen’s gonna lay, you might get it right, but most likely you’ll be wrong. Just gotta watch the game and see who’s the better team that day.
This rivalry, they say it’s old. Been goin’ on longer than I’ve been alive, that’s for sure. England and Scotland, always at each other’s throats, on the rugby field anyways. Good for them, keeps things interestin’. Like a good ol’ family feud, only with more grass stains.
So, there you have it. Scotland beat England, 30-21. Good game, lots of excitement, and Scotland gets to keep that Cup for another year. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens.
