Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Saint Joe’s Prep football team. Now, I ain’t no fancy sportscaster, ya hear? I’m just tellin’ it like it is, the way I see it. Them boys at Saint Joe’s, they play some good football, I tell ya.
First off, they got some strong fellas on that team. Big and sturdy, like them bulls back on the farm. They push and shove, ain’t afraid to get down in the dirt. You need that in football, ya know? Can’t be all soft and whatnot. These boys, they got grit.
- Running: They run fast, them fellas. Like greased lightning, shootin’ across the field. Ain’t easy to catch ’em, I reckon.
- Throwing: And they can throw that ball a country mile, too. Spirals tight and true, landin’ right in the hands of their teammates. It’s a sight to see, lemme tell ya.
- Tackling: When they tackle, they mean business. No gentle nudges, no sir. They wrap ’em up and bring ’em down hard.
Now, I heard tell they won a bunch of them state championships. Eight, they say, since 2013. That’s a lot, ain’t it? Must be doin’ somethin’ right, them coaches and players. They know how to win, plain and simple.
I remember this one game, they was playin’ Imhotep. 21 to nothin’ at halftime! Whoopin’ ’em good, they was. Showed ’em who’s boss, ya know? That’s what you gotta do in football, show ’em who’s boss.
But ain’t always sunshine and roses, ya hear? They lost a game to La Salle College, regular season. Revenge, they wanted. Gotta have that fire in yer belly, gotta wanna win. Playoffs came around, and they got another shot at La Salle. Don’t know what happened, but I bet them Saint Joe’s boys gave it their all.
See, football ain’t just about throwin’ and catchin’. It’s about heart, it’s about teamwork. These fellas, they play together, like a family. They fight for each other, stand up for each other. That’s what makes a team strong, ya know?
This year’s schedule, I seen it. Lots of games, lots of chances to prove themselves. Gotta stay focused, gotta keep workin’ hard. Can’t get lazy, can’t get complacent. Gotta keep pushin’, keep fightin’.
Folks talk about the Saint Joseph’s Hawks, too. Guess that’s another name for ’em, or somethin’. All these names and terms, gets a bit confusin’ for an old gal like me. But one thing’s for sure, them Saint Joe’s boys, they know how to play football.
So, if you get a chance, go see ’em play. Cheer ’em on, give ’em some support. They deserve it, them hard-workin’ fellas. Win or lose, they give it their all. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of, ya hear?
