Rugby Gym Workout: Your Ultimate Guide to Rugby Fitness!

Okay, so, today I tried out this “rugby gym workout” thing. I’m not a rugby player or anything, but I figured, why not give it a shot? It seemed like a fun way to mix up my usual routine. First off, I went to the gym. I was a little lost at first, I saw many devices I had never seen before.

I started with some warm-ups, you know, just to get the blood flowing. Did some jogging on the treadmill, and it felt pretty good. Then I stretched a bit, just the usual stuff I always do, didn’t want to pull anything.

Then came the actual workout. It was a lot of lifting. I did some squats, which, let me tell you, are not my favorite. But, I pushed through. I lifted some weights over my head too.

  • Squats: Did a few sets of these. My legs were definitely feeling it.
  • Bench Press: I’m not super strong, but I managed a decent weight. Felt good to work those chest muscles.
  • Overhead Press: This one was tough. My shoulders were burning after a while.
  • Rows: Used that rowing machine. It was a good workout for my back.

I tried to follow the rugby workout plan I found, but honestly, I had to modify some things. Some of those exercises were just too intense for me. I also did some core work, you know, planks and stuff. I’m not sure if that’s part of a typical rugby workout, but my abs were definitely feeling it afterward. I had to stop and rest a few times, grab some water, and catch my breath.

After that, I tried some of those explosive movements that rugby players do, like jumping and pushing. I tried to do some box jumps, which basically killed me. I’m not the most explosive person, so it was a real struggle. I even stumbled a few times, but it’s alright, no injuries, just some bruised ego. After the whole thing, I did a cool-down, stretched some more, and called it a day.

Overall, it was a pretty intense workout. I’m definitely feeling it in my muscles today. I think my body never felt this way before. I wouldn’t say I’m suddenly ready to join a rugby team, but it was a fun experience. I might try it again sometime, maybe with some adjustments. Or maybe I’ll just stick to my usual routine. We’ll see. One thing’s for sure, those rugby players are in serious shape! This is all for today’s share. See you next time.
