Alright, so you wanna know about them Freedom Park tennis courts, huh? Well, let me tell ya, it ain’t rocket science. It’s just some tennis courts, plain and simple.

First off, where is this place? They say it’s at 1952 Freedom Park Service Road, Charlotte, North Carolina. Sounds fancy, but it’s just a road, ya know? Easy to find, I reckon. Just ask around, somebody’ll point ya in the right direction. Folks in Charlotte are mostly friendly, ‘cept for that one fella down the street who yells at the squirrels. But that’s another story.

Now, about them courts. They got six of ’em, six! That’s a whole lotta tennis, if you ask me. Enough for everyone and their cousin, I guess. And they’re public, which means you don’t gotta be no fancy pants to play. Just show up and smack that little yellow ball around. That’s what I like, no fuss, no muss.

But hold on, sometimes them courts ain’t just open for anyone to waltz on in. You might gotta reserve ’em. Yeah, you heard right, reserve. Like makin’ a reservation at a restaurant, but instead of food, you get a tennis court. How ’bout that? I ain’t never done it myself, but they say you can. Guess you gotta call somebody or go online, doohickey thingamajigger. Kids these days, they know all about that stuff. Me? I just show up and hope for the best.

And get this, they got this thing called “CharlotteTennis.” Sounds like some club or somethin’. They say it’s a community of folks who like hittin’ them balls. Sounds alright, I guess. They even got a hittin’ wall. You know, for when you ain’t got nobody to play with. Just you and the wall, smackin’ that ball back and forth. Keeps ya busy, I suppose.

  • They say you can book a court. Never done it myself, but you can.
  • You can check the court calendars, whatever that means. See if they’re busy, I guess.
  • They even got somethin’ called “play groups.” Sounds like a bunch of folks gettin’ together to play.

They say them courts are open and ready to use. Well, that’s good news, ain’t it? Nothin’ worse than showin’ up and findin’ the gates locked. Happened to me once at the bingo hall, let me tell ya, I was fit to be tied.

It ain’t complicated. Just hit that ball and have some fun. That’s what it’s all about, right? And if you see that fella yellin’ at the squirrels, just ignore him. He’s harmless, mostly.

And remember, these here courts are part of Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation. Sounds official, don’t it? Means they take care of the place, keep it clean, that sort of thing. Which is good, nobody wants to play on a dirty court, that’s for sure. I seen some dirty things in my day, let me tell ya, you don’t wanna know.

So there ya have it. Everything I know about them Freedom Park tennis courts. It ain’t much, but it’s the truth. Go on now, get out there and play some tennis. And don’t forget your water bottle, it gets hot out there, especially in the summer. And wear a hat, sun’ll give you wrinkles, not that I got any room to talk, mind you.

Just go have fun! That’s the whole point, ain’t it? And if ya see me there, come say hi. I’ll be the one sittin’ on the bench, watchin’ everybody else run around. My runnin’ days are long gone, but I still enjoy a good game, even if I’m just watchin’.
