Well, howdy there! Let me tell ya about this here Randall Oaks Golf Club, ya hear? It ain’t nothin’ fancy, but it’s a good place to whack some balls, if ya know what I mean.
First off, what is this place? It’s a golf course, plain and simple. A golf course for folks like you and me, not just them highfalutin city slickers. They call it a “public course,” which I guess means anybody can come and play, long as ya got the money, of course.
This Randall Oaks ain’t no spring chicken neither. They tell me it’s been around since 1965. That’s a long time, even for an old gal like me! A fella named Lohman, he done designed it. Sounds like a hard worker, that Lohman. Made it pretty long too, they say it’s over 6500 yards from the back tees. That’s a lot of walkin’, I tell ya!
Now, let’s talk about playin’ golf there. They got 18 holes, they call ’em “championship” holes. Sounds fancy, but it just means ya gotta hit the ball a bunch of times to get it in the little hole. They got this thing called a “driving range” too. That’s where ya go to practice swingin’ and missin’ the ball before ya go out on the course and do the same thing, only it counts then, ha!
Where is this Randall Oaks, you ask? It’s in West Dundee, Illinois. On Binnie Road. Never been to West Dundee myself, but I hear it’s a nice enough place. You can probably just punch it into that there computery thing in your car, or that phone what everyone’s always starin’ at. It’ll get ya there, sure enough.
- They got different prices, depending on if you live around there or not.
- If you’re a local, it’s cheaper.
- If you’re from out of town, well, you gotta pay a little more. That’s just how it is, I reckon.
They also got some kinda golf league, called “Spark Golf.” Seems like a bunch of folks get together and play 9 holes on Wednesdays. They say it’s fun, and you can even join for free. Not sure what “Spark” means in this case, maybe it means you’ll be sparkin’ up a good time, or maybe it’s just a fancy name. Who knows?
Now, about them fees, I ain’t got all the exact numbers, ya see. But you can find ‘em online, I betcha. Just search for “Randall Oaks Golf Club rates” on that there internet machine. They got all sorts of prices, for seniors, for young folks, for folks who wanna walk, and folks who wanna ride in them little golf carts. Me? I’d rather walk. Gets the blood pumpin’, ya know?
This place ain’t just about golf, neither. It’s part of somethin’ called the Dundee Township Park District. They got all sorts of stuff there, not just golf. Parks and things for the young’uns to play on, places for picnics, all sorts of stuff. So you could make a whole day of it, bring the whole family. Just pack some sandwiches and some sweet tea, and you’re good to go.
So, is Randall Oaks Golf Club worth visitin’? Well, I reckon it is. If you like golf, or if you just wanna get outside and enjoy some fresh air, it’s a good place to be. It ain’t gonna break the bank, and it’s a friendly place, from what I hear. Just don’t expect no fancy country club stuff. It’s down to earth, just like us regular folks.
And that’s about all I gotta say about Randall Oaks Golf Club. Go on and give it a try, ya might just like it. And if ya see me there, be sure to say howdy! But I don’t golf myself though , too much walking for these old bones , I’d rather sit on the porch and watch the birds go by, ya know?
