Need a Low Profile Truck Tool Box? Find the Perfect One Here!

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent project with you all. I’ve been needing a better way to store my tools in my truck, and I finally got around to installing a low profile truck tool box. It’s been a game-changer, and I figured I’d walk you through what I did.

First off, I started looking around for different toolboxes. I saw some called “Crossover Truck Box” and “Low Profile Crossover Truck Tool Box” online. The low profile ones seemed like a good fit because they sit lower in the truck bed and don’t block your view as much. I really liked the Northern Tool Deep Low Profile Crossover Truck Tool Box with Removable Tray – Aluminum, so that’s what I went with.

Next, I had to figure out which one to buy. Northern Tool had one that was pretty cheap, and there was another one, “Weather Guard 131-5-01 Crossover Truck Box,” but it was way more expensive. In the end, I bought the cheaper one because, well, money’s tight.

I ordered the box, and it arrived in a few days. It was pretty easy to put together. It came with all the parts and some instructions, although the instructions weren’t the best. They had some online resources that helped a bit.

Once I got it all put together, I had to install it in my truck. I measured everything out and made sure it would fit properly. I marked where the holes needed to be drilled, and then I carefully drilled them. Then, I put the box in place and bolted it down. It was a little tricky to do by myself, but I managed.

After it was all installed, I started putting my tools in it. It’s amazing how much it holds! I really like the removable tray; it’s perfect for smaller tools and parts. I did see that the Vevor aluminum tool boxes were pretty cheap, and they had a 12-month warranty, so maybe I should have looked into those. But, oh well, too late now.

This box has two latches, which is nice because it feels more secure. I don’t have to worry about my tools getting stolen as much now.

Overall, I’m really happy with my new low profile truck tool box. It keeps my tools organized and secure, and it doesn’t get in the way. If you’re thinking about getting one, I definitely recommend it. It’s made a big difference for me.

  • Pros:
    • Low profile design doesn’t obstruct view.
    • Plenty of storage space.
    • Removable tray is great for small items.
    • Two-stage latches for added security.
  • Cons:
    • Instructions could be better.
    • A bit tricky to install alone.

So yeah, that’s my experience with installing a low profile truck tool box. Hope this helps someone out there!
