Well now, let me tell you about this Mpumalanga rugby, whatever that is. Sounds fancy, don’t it? I heard them fellas runnin’ around with a ball, tossin’ it here and there. Kinda like them boys playin’ in the streets, except these fellas got a big ol’ field and jerseys and stuff.
They call them Pumas, these rugby players. Guess they’re supposed to be fast like them big cats. Don’t know if I’ve ever seen a real puma, but I bet they’re somethin’ fierce. These Pumas, they got a new sponsor, New Nation Construction. Buildin’ things, I reckon. Good for them, gettin’ money from somewhere.
They play in this big place called Mbombela Stadium. Sounds like a mouthful, doesn’t it? They say it’s got seats for everyone. Must be a real big place, all them folks watchin’ fellas chase a ball. They used to play in Witbank, at Puma Stadium. Guess they moved on up to bigger things.
Heard tell some of these Pumas boys go on to be Springboks. Don’t ask me what a Springbok is, some kinda fancy antelope maybe? Anyway, they say some of them fellas, like Duane Vermeulen and Faf de Klerk, they made it big. Came from this Mpumalanga place, played for the Pumas, now they’re jumpin’ around with the Springboks.
