Now, I remember one time, back when my boy was playin’, they had a big game. Everyone in town went. It was a real hootenanny. They won, too. It was a good day. You can always find the scores, too. They put ’em in the paper, and they put ’em on that internet, too. Everyone knows how the team’s doin’. It’s a big deal, this jr high football. It’s a big deal in Linton. It’s a big deal in Indiana. It’s a big deal everywhere, I reckon. That football, it’s somethin’ special.
They even have those rankings, tellin’ ya who’s the best and all that. I don’t pay much mind to that. As long as they’re playin’ hard and havin’ fun, that’s all that matters. That’s what I tell my grandson. “You just go out there and do your best,” I say. “That’s all anyone can ask.” That is the truth.
