Alright, so listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this Dartmouth John tennis fella. Don’t know much about fancy tennis or nothin’, but I heard some things, and I’ll tell ya what I know. This John, seems like he played a good bit of tennis over at that Dartmouth place.
Now, they say he was a “junior” in 2019-2020. Sounds like he wasn’t no beginner, that’s for sure. Won nine matches and lost five in somethin’ they call “singles.” And seven wins, three losses in them “tournaments.” Sounds pretty good to me. Guess he was whippin’ some folks out there on that court.
This young man, he wasn’t just hittin’ balls for fun, ya know? They say he was winnin’ matches in somethin’ called the “ITF World Tennis Tour.” Big stuff, I reckon. He was a “student-athlete,” so he was doin’ his schoolwork too, the smart fella. Must’ve been a busy boy, that’s for sure.
They got this place called “Floren,” and apparently, that’s where he was liftin’ weights twice a week. Said somethin’ ’bout maintainin’ strength and movin’ better. Makes sense, I guess. You gotta be strong to whack them balls around like they do.
- So, this John fella, he had a bit of a tough time, from what I hear.
- Seems like he was keepin’ a secret.
- Somethin’ ’bout bein’ a Dartmouth Sports tennis player and not tellin’ folks.
- He called it “long and scary,” but then he said it was “rewarding” and “worth it.”
Sounds like he finally came out and told folks somethin’ important ’bout himself. Good for him, I say. Takes guts to do that, no matter what it is.
Now he’s over at some place called “D’Youville.” Still playin’ tennis, I guess. They say he had a “successful playing career” at Dartmouth. Guess that means he was pretty darn good.
This John, he talks about how important it is for folks to feel supported. Especially them tennis players at the “upper levels.” He wants more folks to be able to be themselves. That’s a good thing, I think. Everybody deserves to be treated right, no matter what.
He even gave a speech at that Dartmouth place when the students were graduatin’. Must’ve been a proud moment for him. And for his folks too, I bet.
Now, there’s this other fella, Roger Federer. He’s some big-shot tennis star, real famous like. He was talkin’ to them graduatin’ students too. Said somethin’ ’bout workin’ hard and still losin’. Life ain’t always fair, that’s the truth. You can try your best, and it still might not be enough. But you gotta keep on tryin’, that’s what I always say.
This Federer fella, he “graduated” tennis. He didn’t like that word “retired.” Said it was awful. Guess he didn’t wanna feel like he was done, even though he wasn’t playin’ no more. He talked about needin’ a whole bunch of strengths, ’cause you might lose one of ’em along the way. Makes sense, I guess. Life throws all sorts of things at ya, gotta be ready for whatever comes.
And then there’s somethin’ ’bout goin’ from college tennis to bein’ a pro. They got this thing called the “USTA Pro Circuit.” Sounds like that’s where you gotta go if you wanna be a big-time tennis player. Gotta earn them points, whatever that means. It’s a hard road, I’m sure. But if you got the talent and the drive, you can make it happen.
So, that’s what I know ’bout this Dartmouth John and his tennis. Sounds like he’s a good player and a good person. And that’s all that really matters, ain’t it? Bein’ good at somethin’ and bein’ a good person. That’s the kinda fella I like to hear about.
