Okay, so, I had to install some pull boxes on a project the other day, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a learning curve, but I got it done. These things are basically there to give you access within those conduit systems. You know, like little checkpoints along the way.
I started off by figuring out where these boxes needed to go. The main thing is they gotta be easy to get to. Don’t want to be crawling through tight spaces when you need to check something, right? I mean, there are some rules, like if you’re putting one in a ceiling, it’s gotta be listed for that purpose. I made sure to mark the spots clearly, so there was no confusion later on.
The boxes I was dealing with were for a low voltage motor control center, or MCC for short. They mount on top of it, which was convenient. They came in two sizes, either 12 or 18 inches high, so I made sure to pick the right ones for my setup.
Then came the actual mounting part. I got my tools together, double-checked all my measurements, and started securing the boxes to the MCC. I used the proper screws and made sure everything was nice and tight. I’m not a professional electrician or anything, just a DIY guy, but I wanted to make sure this was done right. It was kinda like assembling furniture, but with more wires and metal.
Now, I also had to deal with a vertical pull in this project. That’s a whole different ball game. You’ve got these long conductors, and you need to support them properly. I had a 500-foot vertical pipe run with some heavy-duty conductors. It was a bit of a challenge, but I took my time and made sure everything was supported and secure.
After everything was mounted and secured, I double-checked all the connections and made sure the boxes were accessible. It was a good feeling to see it all come together. I learned a lot about pull boxes and how to install them properly. I just wanted to share my experience, it’s always good to learn something new, you know? And if I can do it, anyone can.
