Okay, so I’ve been getting into this whole golf thing lately. And you know, practice makes perfect, right? But I didn’t want to tear up my lawn, and going to the driving range every day? Forget about it! That’s where the idea of getting a golf mat came in. I did a little digging around and decided to go with a Fiberbuilt golf mat. Let me tell you about my experience setting it up and using it.
First off, finding the right spot for it was the first hurdle. I mean, you gotta think about where you’re gonna put this thing, right? You want a level surface, and I was planning on using it mostly in my backyard, so the grass was the obvious choice. I ended up clearing a small area in my yard. Luckily it wasn’t too much work.
Now, about the mat itself. I opted for one of those artificial turf ones, mainly because they said it feels more like a real fairway. It is a standard size, about 4 feet wide and 5 feet long, and it’s pretty thick, about 1 inch. The size is good for me, gives me plenty of room to swing. I gotta say, it does feel pretty good underfoot. Not exactly like the real thing, but close enough.
Setting it up was a breeze, really. I just had to choose where to put it on the grass. This thing is pretty sturdy, so it’s not like it’s gonna slide around when you’re swinging.
Here’s how I’ve been using it:
- Warm-up: I usually start with some light swings, you know, just to get the feel of the mat and loosen up a bit.
- Irons: Most of my practice has been with my irons. The mat is thick enough that it is not hurt my hands.
- Woods: I’ve also used my woods a few times. No issues there either. The mat is big enough that I don’t feel restricted in my swing.
So far, I’m pretty happy with my Fiberbuilt golf mat. It’s definitely saved my lawn from becoming a divot-filled mess. Plus, it’s just convenient to be able to practice whenever I want, right in my own backyard. If you’re thinking about getting a golf mat, I’d say it’s a pretty good investment. Just make sure you have a good spot to put it and pick the right size for your needs. The price is not so expensive, just about $400 or more.
