Gonzaga Basketball vs Pacific: Bulldogs Favored to Win, But Can the Tigers Pull Off an Upset?
Well, I heard on that talkie box, they call it a TV, that there’s a big basketball game comin’ up. Gonzaga somethin’ or other, versus Pacific, I reckon. Ain’t never been much for that b-ball, but folks ’round here sure do get excited about it.
Gonzaga Bulldogs and Pacific Tigers
These Gonzaga Bulldogs, they’re supposed to be real good. Heard they won their last game, whoop-dee-doo. They go down to Stockton to play them Pacific Tigers. That’s what that fella on the TV said. He kept goin’ on about the “WCC” and the “Spanps Center” and a bunch of other things I didn’t rightly catch. Sounds like a whole lotta hoopla to me. They play this Saturday. It is on Feb 18 I think.
The TV man, he said one team is gonna win for sure. I think it’s the Gonzaga team. It looks like they are better than the other one, Pacific. They are in the lead by many many points.
- Gonzaga, they’re the big dogs, I guess.
- Pacific, well, they’re playin’ too.
- Lots of folks watchin’, I suppose.
Basketball Game Time
This here game, it’s gonna be on that ROOT Sports thingy at 9 o’clock. At least, that’s what that paper said. Lordy, who can keep up with all these channels and such? Back in my day, we just had the one, and we were darn glad to have it! Some people say Gonzaga may lose this time. But I don’t know.
Who is Better?
Now, this Gonzaga team, they ain’t in one of them fancy, big-shot conferences, whatever that means. They call ’em a “mid-major.” Sounds kinda silly to me. They got some fella named John Stockton, supposed to be famous. They call him a “Hall of Famer” about that basketball thing. He must be good at bouncing that ball.
And there is a big rivalry. It is between Gonzaga and Washington. I don’t know too much about it. But I know they are from different places. Gonzaga is from Spokane and Washington is from Seattle. People said they don’t like each other in basketball.
Betting Odds
There is another thing people like to do. They bet on the game. I saw something called BetMGM. It says Gonzaga is favored. It is something like Gonzaga (-4) and Kansas (+4). I don’t know what all these numbers mean. It is too confusing.
People like to guess who will win. Some people think Pacific can win. But most people think Gonzaga will win. I don’t know who will win. But I know basketball is very popular. Some folks are sayin’ this Gonzaga team is gonna win by a whole bunch. They’re favored, whatever that means. Sounds like a sure thing to me, but what do I know? I’m just an old lady watchin’ that noisy box.
These young folks and their basketball. Always runnin’ around, bouncin’ that ball. Seems like a lot of fuss for a game, but I reckon it’s good to have somethin’ to cheer about. Keeps ’em out of trouble, I suppose. At least they ain’t out chasin’ chickens like we used to do.
Gonzaga and Pacific
I don’t know much about this Pacific team. They ain’t from around here, that’s for sure. Probably got their own way of doin’ things. Maybe they’re good, maybe they ain’t. We’ll see what happens when they play them Gonzaga Bulldogs. I heard this Pacific team has not been very good recently. I don’t know if it is true.
Anyways, this whole basketball business is beyond me. I’ll stick to my garden and my knittin’. But if you’re into that sort of thing, I reckon this Gonzaga versus Pacific game might be worth watchin’. Or not. Who knows. Just don’t go gettin’ into no fights over it. It’s just a game, after all. And don’t forget to feed the cat.
This Saturday night there will be a basketball game. It will be Pacific vs Gonzaga. Some people think Pacific will have a big upset. But I don’t know what it means. I think it means Pacific will win.
