And the price! Lord have mercy, the price of these Gary Payton basketball shoes! You wouldn’t believe what they’re askin’ for a pair of shoes these days. Back in my day, we were lucky to have shoes at all, let alone ones that cost more than a month’s worth of groceries. I saw some for $300! Can you believe that? $300 for shoes! Then there’s another one for $150. Still too much if you ask me. But these young’uns, they don’t bat an eye. They just gotta have ’em, I guess.
They got all these places sellin’ ’em, too. Some online place, some big shop, I don’t rightly recall the names. But they’re everywhere, these Gary Payton basketball shoes. And they got ’em for men, for women, even for little kids, I reckon. It’s a whole industry, I tell ya. They even have stores just for basketball stuff. Can you imagine? A whole store just for balls and shoes!

Back in my day, we wore shoes ’til they fell apart, and then we patched ’em up and wore ’em some more. These young’uns, they buy new shoes just ’cause they got a little scuff on ’em. Wasteful, if you ask me. But I guess that’s how it is these days. These used ones, they can still cost a pretty penny. I saw some for $124.99, $245, even $499.99! For used shoes! It’s a crazy world, I tell ya.
I heard some folks sayin’ you can buy these Gary Payton basketball shoes online. You just click some buttons, and they show up at your door. Sounds like magic to me. But I guess it’s convenient. Don’t even have to leave the house. And they say you can get deals online, save some money. Maybe that’s not so bad, then. If you can find a deal, that is. Some places are even saying they will give you free shipping. Well, that’s good, I guess. Shipping can cost a lot these days.
They say these shoes are made real good, these Gary Payton basketball shoes. Supposed to last a long time, even if you play basketball in ’em every day. Well, I reckon that’s all I know ’bout them Gary Payton basketball shoes. They’re somethin’ else, that’s for sure. Expensive, fancy, and everyone seems to want ’em. I guess if it makes the young’uns happy, it’s alright. But I still think they’re just shoes. Maybe I’m just old-fashioned. They say the first basketball shoes were called “Converse Non-Skids”. Can you imagine? Non-skids! And that was a long time ago, in 1917. They were popular for almost 30 years. Those were simpler times.
But these new ones, these Gary Payton ones… well, they’re just a whole different ball game, I guess. They even say some places “authenticate” every shoe. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds important. They do all this to make sure the shoes are not fake. That’s good, I suppose. No one wants fake shoes. These new shoes are quite something, ain’t they? I still can’t believe how much they cost though!
