Man, I’ve always been a huge rugby fan, and the French team? Don’t even get me started. Their style of play is just mesmerizing. So, a while back, I got it into my head that I wanted to get my hands on a proper France rugby uniform. I mean, who wouldn’t want to feel a little bit like a French rugby star, right?
First thing I did was just a quick search. I typed in “France rugby uniform” and, boy, was I flooded with options! It was actually a little overwhelming. There were so many online stores selling different kits, jerseys, and all sorts of gear. I felt like a kid in a candy store, but also a little lost. There are more than 50 different products, and price is from €9.90. That is a big number for me.
Then I started to dig a bit deeper. I wanted to learn what the players actually wear. You know, the official stuff. Turns out, according to World Rugby Regulation, players wear jerseys, shorts, underwear, socks, and boots. Okay, pretty standard. But then it mentioned that the jersey sleeves should extend at least halfway from the shoulder to the elbow. Good to know!
I also learned about some additional permitted items. Like shin guards! Apparently, they’re allowed, but they have to be worn under the socks. And there are rules about the padding – has to be in a non-rigid fabric, and no thicker than 0.5cm when compressed. It’s amazing how much detail goes into these regulations. All items of clothing must comply with World Rugby Regulation 12. I never thought about the thickness of shin guard padding before!
I also stumbled upon some history of the French team’s emblem. The coq gaulois, the Gallic rooster. After France won against Scotland in 1911, the captain, Marcel Communeau, suggested adopting the rooster as their symbol. Pretty cool, right? It’s a historical emblem of France and adds a nice touch to the uniform.
Of course, I spent a good chunk of time browsing through the different jerseys. There are so many variations! Home, away, training, classic fit, I looked at them all, some websites even have a “Guide” tag to help you choose, and it has everything you need to know! And some offer a new French Rugby jersey at The Official Six Nations Store, I feel so excited! Finally, I picked out a classic blue jersey with the rooster emblem. It just felt right. I also grabbed a pair of shorts and some socks to complete the look.
So, I’ve got my full France rugby uniform now. Do I play rugby? Not really, just a bit with friends sometimes. But hey, at least I can look the part! And who knows, maybe wearing the uniform will inspire me to hit the field more often. Either way, it was a fun little project, and I learned a lot about rugby gear and the French team’s history along the way.
