Well, let me tell ya ’bout them EC Glass girls tennis matches, ya know, the ones they played… sometime recently. I ain’t too good with dates, but I remember it was a big deal.
Them girls, they played real hard, lemme tell ya. Runnin’ around like chickens with their heads cut off, but in a good way, ya know? Swattin’ that little yellow ball back and forth. Looked like hard work to me, all that runnin’ and hittin’. I sure wouldn’t wanna do it, my old bones ain’t up for that no more.
I heard somethin’ about ‘em playin’ at home. Yeah, that’s right, at their own school. Heard it was a big match, somethin’ called a regional championship. Sounded important, like them girls was fightin’ for somethin’ special. Only folks on some special list could go watch, though. Guess they didn’t want too many folks crowdin’ the place.
- They played some other team, I think. Sher… Sher… somethin’ like that. Tough-soundin’ name, them Sherando girls musta been pretty good.
- But our girls, them EC Glass girls, they was better, I reckon. Heard they won. Beat them Sherando girls real good.
EC Glass tennis, both the girls and the boys, they’re somethin’ special, lemme tell ya. Heard on the TV, they was the “Teams of the Week” or somethin’. Said they won 5-0, whatever that means. Guess it means they won all their matches, real good. Clean sweep, they call it. Musta made them other teams feel real bad.
They had some kinda tournament too, a regional tournament, that’s what they called it. Started in the afternoon, I think. And the boys, they played soccer too. Busy kids, them EC Glass athletes. Always runnin’ around, playin’ some game or another. Good for them, keeps ‘em outta trouble, I guess.
Saw somethin’ on that… uh… Face… book? Yeah, Face book. Said somethin’ about the 25th of May. Maybe that’s when they played. Like I said, I ain’t good with dates. But them pictures, they showed them girls holdin’ up a trophy or somethin’. Big smiles on their faces. They looked real happy, them girls did. Deserved it too, after all that runnin’ and hittin’.
So, if you ask me about the EC Glass girls tennis score today, well, I can’t rightly tell ya the exact numbers. But I can tell ya they won. They played hard, they beat some tough teams, and they brought home a trophy, or somethin’ like it. That’s what matters, ain’t it? Winnin’. And them girls, they’re winners, lemme tell ya.
Heard they’re gonna play some more matches, maybe even go on to some bigger tournament. Good for them. Hope they keep winnin’. Makes the whole town proud, ya know? Even an old lady like me, who don’t know nothin’ ‘bout tennis, I get a little thrill hearin’ about them EC Glass girls and their winnin’ ways. They represent our town real good.
So, yeah, that’s the story, as best as I can remember it. Them EC Glass girls, they’re somethin’ else. Tennis champions, that’s what they are. And don’t you forget it.
Now, where did I put my glasses…? Oh, never mind. Just glad them girls did good. That’s all that matters.
