First off, you got them DPL Ball Fields. I reckon that stands for somethin’, but I ain’t got a clue what. Anyways, they got summertime games there. You know, kids runnin’ around, folks yellin’, bats crackin’. It’s a real hoot! You can bring yer young’uns, let ’em loose, and they’ll have a grand ol’ time. They used to just call it the tennis place, but I guess some folks with fancy names wanted to be remembered. Anyways, it ain’t just tennis no more. They got them pickleball courts now, too. You ever play pickleball? It’s like tennis, but smaller and easier on yer old bones. And they got basketball, too. So, somethin’ for everyone, I reckon.

Can’t miss it, even if you tried. And you know what? They got things goin’ on all year round. Yep, even when it’s cold as a witch’s tit outside. They got leagues and tournaments and such. I don’t rightly understand half of it, but folks seem to enjoy it.

I heard tell this place got fixed up real nice thanks to somethin’ called the St. Clair Foundation. Sounds fancy, huh? They got money from some folks named Brooke and Gould, I guess. Anyways, they used that money to make the place spiffy. New courts, all painted up nice. It’s real purdy, ya know?

Now, I ain’t much for playin’ no sports myself. My knees ain’t what they used to be, and I get winded just walkin’ to the mailbox. But I like watchin’ the young’uns have fun. And this place, the DPL Ball Fields and Brooke-Gould Memorial Tennis Complex, well, it’s a good place for that. You can go there, sit on a bench, and watch folks runnin’ around. It’s good for the soul, I tell ya.
