Alright, let’s talk about this Sandhill Crane Golf Club, y’know, the one down in Florida. Folks say it’s a real purdy place, with all them golf courses and whatnot.
Now, I ain’t never been much for golf myself. Too much walkin’ and hittin’ a little ball, if you ask me. But my grandson, he’s all about it. He tells me this Sandhill Crane place is somethin’ special. Says it’s the only golf course in Florida that goes right through them swampy parts, what they call the Loxahatchee Slough. Sounds kinda buggy to me, but he says it’s beautiful.
They got two golf courses there, see? Two! One of ’em they call the Champions Course. My grandson says it’s a par 72, whatever that means. Some fancy golf fellas, architects they call ’em, fixed it up all nice and new. I guess that’s a good thing. He says it plays to 6,500 yards, which sounds like a mighty long walk to me.
- Champions Course: That’s the main one, the fancy one.
- Another course: They got another one too, but I can’t remember what they call it. My grandson likes ’em both, though.
This place ain’t just about golf, though. My grandson, he showed me some pictures. There’s all sorts of green stuff, and water too, like little lakes. And them sandhill cranes, them big birds, they’re everywhere. Tall as a man, they are. Guess that’s why they named the place after ’em.
People say it’s a challenging course, but fair. That means it ain’t easy, but it ain’t cheatin’ neither. My grandson says it’s a public golf course, so anybody can go play, long as you got the money, I reckon. It’s over in West Palm, he says, wherever that is.
Now, I heard tell that some golf courses, they try to copy them fancy courses over in Britain. You know, across the big water. They got them bunkers, little sand pits, that are real tricky. My grandson says this Sandhill Crane place, it’s got its own style. It’s all about the Florida nature, the swamps and the birds and all.
They call it an 18-hole championship golf course, which sounds real important. My grandson says it’s well-designed, means somebody smart figured out where to put all the holes and the sand and the water. He says it’s scenic, too, means it’s purdy to look at, even if you ain’t playin’ golf. He talks about breathtaking views and lush greenery, all fancy words, but I get the gist. It’s a nice place, is what he’s sayin’.
Folks go there to experience scenic golfing, I guess. To get out in the sunshine, hit a little ball, and look at the birds. Sounds alright, I suppose, if you’re into that kinda thing. My grandson, he sure is. He says if you’re ever down in Florida, you should go check it out. Discover Sandhill Crane Golf Club, he says. Maybe I will, someday. But I ain’t gonna play no golf. I’ll just sit and watch them big birds.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a place to golf in Florida, this Sandhill Crane place seems like a good bet. It’s got the golf, it’s got the scenery, and it’s got them big birds. What more could you want? Just bring your bug spray, that’s what I say.
And remember, it ain’t just about the golf, it’s about gettin’ out there and enjoyin’ the day. That’s what my grandson tells me, anyways. He says it’s a good place to relax and have some fun. And that sounds alright to me, even if I don’t know a putter from a pitching wedge.
