Alright, so you wanna know about this David Covinella fella and his football, huh? Let me tell ya what I know, the way I know how to tell it. No fancy words, just plain talk.
David Covinella, that young whippersnapper, he’s playin’ some football, I hear. Folks are sayin’ he’s got somethin’ special. He’s quick, like a rabbit in the cornfield. And shifty, too. Can’t hardly lay a hand on him, like tryin’ to catch smoke. They say he’s got somethin’ called ‘agility’, sounds like he’s real bendy and twisty like a vine.
Now, I don’t know much about this ‘professional journey’ stuff they talk about. But from what I gather, this boy, David, he wanted it bad. He worked hard, real hard. Like we used to work in the fields, sunup to sundown. He probably practiced and practiced, runnin’ and kickin’ that ball till his legs were sore and his shoes were worn through. That’s what they call ‘persistence’, I think.
They say he started out in them local leagues. You know, the kind where the kids play on dusty fields, with the moms and daddys cheerin’ from the sidelines. Probably had a coach who yelled a lot and wore a cap pulled low over his eyes. That’s how it is in them small towns, I reckon.
- He’s real fast, they say. Like a greased piglet.
- He can move quick and turn on a dime. Folks call it ‘tactical awareness’, sounds like he’s got a good head on his shoulders.
- He plays hard and never gives up. That’s what my old man used to call ‘gumption’.
Some folks are callin’ his style… how’d they put it? ‘Provocative’? Sounds like he does things his own way, maybe ruffles some feathers. Like that rooster we had who’d crow at any hour, didn’t care if it was midnight or noon. Some folks liked it, some didn’t. That’s life, I guess.
Now, I hear this David fella plays for the Seaford Bluejays. That’s a high school team, right? You can probably find their schedule and all that stuff online. They got websites for everything these days. Back in my day, you just showed up at the field and hoped for a good game. Makes me feel like an old mule sometimes with all these technology these days.
David Covinella is gettin’ known. His name is poppin’ up here and there. People are talkin’ about him. He’s making a name for himself. Reminds me of that time our prize-winning hog got his picture in the county paper. Everybody knew about Bessie after that.
They’re callin’ him a ‘promising young player’. That means he’s got a bright future, if he keeps workin’ hard and stays out of trouble. Just like a good crop, you gotta tend to it, keep the weeds out, and pray for sunshine.
I ain’t seen him play myself, mind you. I’m just tellin’ you what I’ve heard. But from what I gather, this David Covinella fella, he’s got somethin’ special. He’s got that fire in his belly, that drive to succeed. And that, more than anything, is what’s gonna take him far in this football world.
So, keep your eyes on that boy. He might just be the next big thing. And if he ain’t? Well, at least he’s out there givin’ it his all, chasin’ his dream. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of, no matter what.
Anyways, that’s the gist of it. Hope it makes some sense to ya. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens.
