Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this Connor O’Neal fella and this UNLV football, ya know, the Rebels. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the market, and lemme tell ya, it’s a whole lotta fuss!
First off, this Connor O’Neal, they say he’s a football player for UNLV. Now, I ain’t never seen him play myself, but them folks at the market, they say he’s somethin’ else. They got this website, somethin’ called ESPN, says he’s on the team roster. And another one, RecruitinNation, somethin’ like that, they got a whole page ’bout him. Kids these days, all on the internet, huh?
Now, this UNLV football team, they play in somethin’ called the NCAAF. I don’t rightly know what all them letters mean, but it sounds fancy. They play their games in a big stadium, Allegiant Stadium they call it. Must be a sight to see, all them folks cheerin’ and yellin’. Heard they even got a fan guide and everything. These young fellas playin’ ball, they got it all figured out, I tell ya.
This UNLV team, they got a coach, Barry Odom his name is. He done brought in a whole bunch of new players, 22 of ’em, they say. Signed letters and everything. Sounds serious, like buyin’ a new tractor, only these fellas are gonna be runnin’ around with a football instead of plantin’ seeds. The university, they call it the University of Nevada Las Vegas Rebels. Long name, ain’t it?
- They got this website, *, where they put all the news and stuff.
- And they got games and calendars and all sorts of things.
- It’s like a whole ‘nother world, this football thing.
Now, I heard tell about this other fella, Knight, used to play for UNLV too. Big fella, they say, played defense. Even went on to play a little bit in the NFL, for the Rams. But then he got into some trouble, started this Death Row Records thing. Don’t know much ’bout that, sounds kinda scary if ya ask me. Then there’s this Tupac fella, went to jail, somethin’ ’bout abusin’ someone. See, that’s what happens when ya get mixed up with the wrong crowd. Football is good, but ya gotta stay outta trouble.
Back to this Connor O’Neal, though. Seems like he’s tryin’ to make a name for himself at UNLV. He and his teammates, they practice and play hard, tryin’ to win them games. They convert fourth downs, and make offensive plays, all that fancy talk. I reckon it takes a lot of work, runnin’ and jumpin’ and throwin’ that ball around. Reminds me of chasin’ chickens in the yard, only these fellas are bigger and faster, and the chickens are replaced with a football.
I tell ya, this football thing, it’s more than just a game. It’s a whole community, a whole lotta folks comin’ together to cheer on their team. And this Connor O’Neal, he’s part of that community now. He’s representin’ UNLV, wearin’ them colors, and tryin’ to make folks proud. It’s a big responsibility, but I reckon he’s up for it. He’s a young fella with a dream, and that’s somethin’ to admire.
So, there ya have it, just a little bit ’bout Connor O’Neal and UNLV football, from what I’ve heard tell. It ain’t much, but it’s somethin’. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about football got me hungry!
And one more thing, these kids, they play hard, and they study hard too, I hope. Gotta get that education, ya know. Football ain’t gonna last forever. But the smarts, that’ll stick with ya. So, go Connor, and go Rebels! Make us proud!
