OK, so I’ve been messing around with a couple of different golf balls lately, trying to figure out which one I like best. Today, I wanna talk about the Bridgestone e12 and the Q Star. I’ve played a few rounds with both, and I’ve got some thoughts.
First off, I grabbed a box of each. The e12 balls, they’re these 3-piece things with an ionomer cover. Supposedly, they’re good for guys like me – you know, mid-handicap, not exactly a pro but not a total beginner either. The Q Star, those are pretty popular too, and I’ve heard good things about them. I wanted to see how they compared, especially since they’re both around the same price.
Testing Them Out
So, I took these bad boys out to the course. I started with the e12. First swing, whoosh! The thing went flying. I mean, I’m not the best golfer, but I know a good hit when I feel one. The ball felt powerful coming off the club, like it had some real oomph behind it. I played a whole round with the e12, just to get a good feel for it. What I noticed was, it was pretty easy to control. My shots were going straighter than usual, which is a big deal for me. I tend to slice the ball sometimes, but the e12 seemed to help with that.
- Driving: Felt great, long, and pretty straight.
- Irons: Same story, felt controlled and consistent.
- Around the Green: This is where I thought the Q Star might have an edge.
Next up, the Q Star. I’d heard that it has better spin around the greens, and yeah, I’d say that’s true. When I was chipping and putting, the Q Star felt a bit more responsive. I could get it to check up a little better on those short shots. It was nice to have that extra control when I was close to the hole. But off the tee? Not as much distance as the e12. I definitely felt like I was giving up some yards with the Q Star.
My Thoughts
Honestly, both are solid golf balls. But for my game, right now, I think the e12 is the winner. I need that extra distance, and I like how straight it flies. The Q Star is good around the greens, no doubt, but I’m willing to sacrifice a little bit of that control for more distance off the tee. Plus, the e12 just felt more powerful overall. It was like, every time I hit it, I knew it was going to go far.
I’ve also asked some other players to try out the e12, guys with different swing speeds. One guy has a driver swing speed of around 85 mph, another is closer to 105 mph. They both had similar feedback – powerful, easy to control, and longer than their usual ball. It’s kind of cool that the e12 works well for different types of players.
So, yeah, that’s my little experiment with the e12 and Q Star. I’m going to keep playing with the e12 for a while and see how it goes. Maybe I’ll try out some other balls too, but for now, the e12 is my go-to. I think this ball with its core and delta dimple design is a good choice.
If you’re a mid-handicapper like me, and you’re looking for a ball that’s long and straight, give the e12 a try. You might be surprised at how much it improves your game. Especially if you’re like me and feel like you should be getting more distance, the e12 might just be the answer. But hey, don’t just take my word for it. Go out there and try them for yourself!
