Alright, so you wanna know about them Clayton State University fellas, the tennis team, right? And where they stand, like how good they are? I ain’t no fancy sports person, but I can tell ya what I heard and what I can piece together, ya know, like how we do in the village, piece things together from chit-chat.
First off, this Clayton State, it’s a school, a big one, I reckon. They got all sorts of sports, like basketball and soccer, even got a United Soccer Coaches’ Poll. Them soccer fellas, they did pretty good, got themselves ranked in the top 25. That’s somethin’, right? Means they ain’t just kickin’ rocks around.
Now, the tennis team, that’s what you’re after. It’s hard to say exactly where they stand. This school, Clayton State, they in somethin’ called NCAA DII and the Peach Belt Conference. Sounds fancy, huh? Means they play with other schools, big schools, I guess. They ain’t playing no backyard games, that’s for sure.
- They got lots of students, more than five thousand, I heard.
- Big place too, almost 200 acres. That’s a lot of land, more than old man Johnson’s farm, I tell ya.
- They teach all sorts of things, like them “Liberal Arts” and “Community Psychology”. Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like somethin’ for city folks.
Finding out exactly how good the tennis team is, that’s tricky. They talk about rankings for other stuff, like the whole school. They say it’s #86 in the South. But that’s for the whole school, not just the tennis boys. And the soccer fellas got ranked too. So, they keep track of who’s good and who ain’t.
I did hear somethin’ about some other tennis players, from another school, Oklahoma State. They got some rankings, somethin’ called ITA final rankings. So, these tennis fellas, they get ranked individual-like and as teams too, seems like. Must be the same for Clayton State boys, they just don’t talk about it in the same place I was lookin’. You know how it is, information’s scattered, like chickens in the yard.
They got a website, that Clayton State place. Full of all sorts of things. They got the basketball team’s roster, pictures and all, even say how tall them boys are. “2024-25 Men’s Basketball Roster # Image Full Name Academic Year Pos. Ht. Wt. Hometown/Previous School High School; 0: Jojo Bell: Jr. G: 6-5: Carrolton.” See? Lots of details. They got the basketball fellas’ stats too, whatever that means. Numbers and such. But the tennis team, they don’t show as much. Maybe they ain’t as popular as them basketball boys.
They also got women playing sports there. Heard names like Charlotte Fabricius and Hannah Keeling. They play somethin’, maybe tennis, maybe somethin’ else. It’s all jumbled up on that website, like my yarn basket after the cat gets in it.
So, the long and short of it is this: Clayton State fellas play tennis, they play in some big leagues, and the school itself is kinda known. But exactly how good the tennis team is this year, I can’t say for sure. They probably got a ranking somewhere, but it ain’t easy to find. You gotta dig around, like lookin’ for potatoes in the dirt. Maybe if you talked to someone at the school, they’d tell ya straight. Or maybe you gotta wait for them sports people to announce it, like they do for the soccer and basketball fellas. They like makin’ a fuss about who’s the best, you know.
Anyway, that’s the best I can do for ya. It ain’t perfect, but it’s honest, like a good day’s work. Hope it helps ya some.
