Now, I ain’t no expert on this CIAC basketball, but I hear them sayin’ somethin’ ’bout “scores” and “brackets”. Sounds complicated to me. I just like watchin’ them kids run around and have fun. They got all that energy, you know? Wish I had some of that pep in my step these days.
They say there’s this fella, Jared Butler. Big fella, six-foot-five, they say. Must be a good player, that one. They say he’s a “senior”, which I reckon means he’s been playin’ for a while now. He plays for some team called Wilbur Cross. Sounds like a funny name for a team, don’t it?
And there’s these teams, they say, East Catholic, Cromwell, and Windsor Locks. They won somethin’ last year, these teams. Must be pretty good, huh? They say they might win again this year. We’ll see, I reckon. It’s all up in the air, like a bird in the sky. You never know which way the wind’s gonna blow. It is all about that CIAC basketball.

Sounds like a whole lotta divisions to me. Back in my day, we just played. Didn’t need no fancy divisions. Just a ball and a hoop, that’s all you need. But these kids today, they got all these rules and things. Times sure have changed.
This CIAC basketball thing, it’s a tournament, they say. Lots of games, one after another. They even got somethin’ called “practice schedules”. Imagine that, practicin’ for a game! We just played when we felt like it. No schedules, no nothin’. But I reckon if ya wanna be good, you gotta practice.
They got all these “game results” too. Keepin’ track of who wins and who loses. Seems important to them, I guess. Me, I just like watchin’ the game. Don’t matter who wins or loses, long as everyone’s havin’ a good time. That’s the important thing, ain’t it? This CIAC basketball sure does sound like fun, maybe I will go to the town to watch a game or two.
They say this CIAC basketball, it’s for high school boys. So, it’s just the boys playin’, huh? Well, that’s alright, I guess. The boys need somethin’ to do to keep ’em outta trouble. Keeps ’em busy, you know? Better than runnin’ around gettin’ into mischief.
They got a whole schedule for these championship games, they say. Lots of games to be played. Gonna be a busy time for these boys, I reckon. Hope they don’t tire themselves out too much. Gotta stay healthy, you know. Can’t be playin’ if you’re all worn out.
They also mentioned something about the swimming competition in the CIAC, I don’t know about that, maybe next time I will tell you. It is not important for the CIAC basketball thing. This basketball sounds like a lot for the boys, hope they have fun.
This CIAC basketball is for Connecticut, they say. That’s where we are, right? So, it’s our boys playin’ in these games. Gotta support the local teams, I reckon. Show some town spirit, you know? Makes ya feel good to cheer for your own.
Well, I don’t know much else ’bout this CIAC basketball thing. But it sounds like a big to-do. Lots of folks talkin’ ’bout it. Must be somethin’ special, I reckon. Maybe I’ll have to go watch one of these games sometime. See what all the fuss is about. It might be fun, you never know.
These young’uns today, they got all sorts of things to keep ’em entertained. Back in my day, we didn’t have all this. We had to make our own fun. But I guess that’s progress, huh? Things change. Gotta keep up with the times, I suppose. Even if it’s just listenin’ to folks talk ’bout this CIAC basketball thing down at the market.
