Here’s what I’d look at if I were buyin’ one of these monsters:
- Size matters, they say. Twenty-two foot is long, real long. Make sure ya got room to park it! And think about how high it is too. Don’t wanna go knockin’ down no bridges, ya hear? Gotta make sure that you measure out the space you will need for this thing. No point buyin’ it if you cant store it anywhere right?
- How tough is it? Is it made of good, strong stuff? Don’t want it fallin’ apart on ya halfway down the road. Kick the tires, so to speak. Check if the walls are all beat up, the floor is solid and if the thing rattles like an old can when it moves.
- Doors and such. Can ya open and close ’em easy? Do they lock good? Don’t want your stuff fallin’ out or gettin’ stolen. Also make sure the door is big enough to load everything you need to put into it and more importantly that there aren’t any squeaky hinges that’ll drive you crazy when you are on the road.
- Engine stuff. Now, I ain’t no mechanic, but ya gotta make sure it runs good, right? Get someone who knows about engines to check it out. Don’t wanna be stuck on the side of the road, that’s for sure. This is important, really important. Without a good engine, you are in for a world of trouble if this thing breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Gotta make sure the oil, the petrol and the… whats it called, the radiators all good and in tip top shape.
If you’re rentin’, well, it’s mostly the same stuff, but maybe ya don’t gotta be so picky. Still, make sure it’s big enough, strong enough, and the doors work. And ask about insurance! Don’t wanna be payin’ for the whole darn thing if ya have a little accident.
Now, drivin’ this thing…that’s a whole ‘nother story. It ain’t like drivin’ a little car, that’s for sure. It’s big and heavy, and ya gotta be careful. Take it slow, watch your turns, and for goodness sake, check your mirrors! Ya don’t wanna be squishin’ no little cars, right? Gotta practice if you are not sure and be confident in your driving abilities if not you and other drivers will be in real danger.
And if ya wanna turn this box into a home, well, that’s a whole project. Gotta think about where you’ll sleep, eat, and all that. But that’s a story for another day. The main thing is to get a good box to start with. That way it can carry everything you need to start building it out and it’ll last longer. Nobody wants a home that will fall apart in a few months. Make sure you also get the right people to do the job, because you don’t want to diy something that you aren’t confident in or it will just end up looking like a mess or worse, an unusable mess.
So, there ya have it. Just a bit of common sense, really. Don’t get bamboozled by fancy talk. Just think about what ya need, check things out good, and be careful. And if ya need to move a lot of stuff, well, maybe a 22-foot bus box is just the ticket. Just make sure you got deep pockets for gas money though, these things guzzle it down faster than a hot dog at a picnic.
Remember, the size isn’t everything too, bigger isn’t always better you know? What good is a large box if you can’t drive it properly or store it somewhere securely without having to worry about it. Bigger also means you can haul more things, but does it always have to be to the brim? Sometimes I wonder about people when I see them hauling stuff to their absolute limit, what do you even need that much stuff for?
