Well, I’ll tell ya, they done built a new football field in Choctaw County, Mississippi. Yep, a brand new one. Folks ‘round here been talkin’ ‘bout it for a good long while now.
Choctaw County Football Field – The Big News
See, the old field, Dale Davidson Field, it’s been there since, shoot, since way back in World War II, they say. It’s seen a lot of games, that’s for sure. Kids playin’ ball, folks cheerin’, the whole shebang. But it was gettin’ old, ya know? Kinda rundown, like an old mule that’s worked too hard. Needed fixin’ up, or somethin’ new altogether.
- New stadium is at Glasgow Park in Ackerman.
- It can hold a whole bunch of people, 3000 they say!
- They even got one of them fancy jumbotrons, like on TV!
So, they up and decided to build a whole new field, over at Glasgow Park in Ackerman. Not just any field, mind you, but a real fancy one. Big enough for 3000 folks to sit and watch the games. Can you believe that? 3000! That’s more folks than live in my whole holler, I reckon. And get this, they put in one of them newfangled jumbotrons, like you see on the TV when them city fellers play. Big ol’ screen, shows the plays and all that. Kids these days, they got it all, I tell ya.
Now, they had this here ribbon-cuttin’ ceremony. You know, where they get all them important folks together with them big scissors and cut a ribbon. Makes it all official-like. They done it on a Monday afternoon. Folks were all excited, smilin’ and clappin’. Even had some of them politicians there, makin’ speeches and shakin’ hands. You know how they do.
Flagstar Done a Good Job
Flagstar, that’s the company that built it. They done a real good job, from what I hear. Got it done just in time for them Friday Night Lights, too. You know, high school football. Big deal ‘round here. Folks get all worked up, cheerin’ for their team, eatin’ popcorn, and whatnot. It’s a whole to-do, let me tell ya.
Heard tell this new football field is part of some big project, a “multi-phase project” they called it. Sounded fancy. Guess they’re gonna be doin’ more stuff around here. Maybe fixin’ up the school, or buildin’ somethin’ else. Who knows? As long as them kids got a nice place to play ball, that’s all that matters, I reckon.
This new Choctaw County football stadium, it’s a real blessin’. Gives the kids somethin’ to do, keeps ‘em outta trouble. And it brings the whole community together, ya know? Folks comin’ from all over, watchin’ the games, supportin’ the team. It’s a good thing, a real good thing. Heck, even ol’ folks like me might just go watch a game or two. See what all the fuss is about. And maybe sneak a hotdog or two while I’m at it.
Now, some folks might say, “Why spend all that money on a football field?” But I say, why not? Them kids deserve a good place to play, a safe place. And it ain’t just about football, ya see. It’s about pride, about community. It’s about havin’ somethin’ to look forward to on them Friday nights. And that, my friends, is worth more than all the money in the world.
So, there ya have it. The new football field in Choctaw County. It’s big, it’s fancy, and it’s somethin’ to be proud of. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go find my cheerin’ shoes. Might need ‘em come Friday night.
