Well, let me tell ya ’bout these young’uns playin’ that tennis game. Them boys, yeah, the ejchs tennis team boys, they been swingin’ them rackets like they’re beatin’ rugs! I ain’t never seen nothin’ like it.
Heard tell they been winnin’ a bunch. Seems like they beat that Alexander team, and them folks was supposed to be real good, somethin’ ’bout bein’ the top seed. Top seed? Sounds like somethin’ you plant in the ground, but I guess it means they’re supposed to be the best. Our boys showed ’em, didn’t they?
- They won six division games! Clean sweep, they say. Six and oh! Don’t that beat all?
- Then they played some other games, not in their division, and won some, lost some. Two and two, they tell me. Can’t win ’em all, I reckon.
Now, I don’t know much about this tennis. It ain’t like watchin’ the chickens peck in the yard. But from what I hear, these boys are somethin’ special. They got that “varsity” team, and seems like they’re champions six times runnin’. Six times! That’s a whole lotta winnin’. Folks ’round here are real proud, yessirree.
I saw some folks lookin’ at somethin’ called “Livesport” or “Flashscore,” I don’t know, somethin’ like that. They said it shows all the scores from all over, even them fancy ATP and WTA tourneys. Sounds like a lot of fuss to me. I just like hearin’ the good news when our boys win. It’s more fun that way.
They talk about “aces” and “double faults” and “serves.” I ain’t got a clue what all that means. Seems complicated. But I do know when them boys hit that little yellow ball and the other fella can’t hit it back, that’s a good thing. And our boys do a lot of that, seems like.
They even got a page on that Facebook thing, the “Johns Creek Tennis” page, they call it. I saw some pictures. Them boys look real serious, holdin’ them rackets. And there’s folks writin’ comments and “likes.” Seems like everyone’s cheerin’ ’em on.
These ejchs tennis team boys, they’re somethin’ else. They practice hard, I hear. Runnin’ and hittin’ balls all day long. It’s a lot of work, but they seem to love it. And the whole town’s proud of ’em. It’s good to see young’uns doin’ somethin’ positive, keepin’ busy and out of trouble.
I tell ya, it’s more excitin’ than watchin’ paint dry! I might even try to catch one of them games one day, see what all the fuss is about. Though I reckon I’ll just end up watchin’ the chickens again. At least I understand them! But good for them boys, I say. Keep on swingin’ them rackets, and keep on winnin’!
They even put up some videos, they call ’em highlights. Showin’ the best parts of the games. I watched a bit, all that fast movin’ and ball hittin’. It’s dizzyin’, but them boys are quick, I’ll give ’em that. Like greased lightnin’, they are.
So yeah, that’s the story of them ejchs tennis team boys as far as I can tell. They’re winnin’, they’re playin’ hard, and they’re makin’ folks proud. What more can you ask for? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens.
