He played for some team called the Colorado State Rams. Rams? Like them sheep with the curly horns? Anyways, he played for them. They say he was fast, real fast, like a jackrabbit runnin’ from a coyote. And big too, not like them skinny fellas. A “big, speedy target,” they called him, like he was somethin’ you shoot at, but with a football, I reckon.
He played in, what, eight games back in 2011? That ain’t a whole lot, is it? Maybe he got hurt, or maybe he just wasn’t good enough to play all the time. I don’t know. They don’t tell you everything, do they? Just bits and pieces, like a puzzle you gotta put together yourself.

- Sounds fancy, Cibolo. Never been there myself.

- Knights? Like them fellas in armor ridin’ horses? I tell ya, these names these days…
So, is this the same Byron Steele? The football fella and the school fella? Could be. Maybe the school’s named after him, or maybe his daddy, or grandpa. Or maybe it’s just a coincidence. Who knows? Like I said, they don’t tell you everything.
This ESPN Thing
Then there’s this ESPN thing. Heard of it? It’s on the TV, always talkin’ ’bout sports. They got a profile on this Byron Steele fella. Shows his picture, I guess, and tells you all about him. Probably how fast he runs and how big he is. And maybe how many balls he catches. They like numbers, them ESPN folks. Always talkin’ ’bout stats and scores and stuff. Makes my head spin, it does.
Cookies and Trackers and Whatnot
And then they got this thing ’bout cookies and trackers. Said they collect information. What kinda information? I don’t know, maybe they wanna know what kinda cookies I like. Chocolate chip, that’s my favorite. But I don’t think that’s what they mean. They probably wanna know what you’re lookin’ at, what you’re buyin’, who you’re talkin’ to. Like them nosy neighbors always peekin’ through the curtains. Gotta be careful these days, gotta watch what you say and do, or they’ll be trackin’ ya, ya know?
That Other Fella, Mazda
And then, for some reason, I heard about this other fella, Mohamed Abdallah Ahmed, they call him Mazda. He’s a Sudanese football coach. Now, I don’t know how he connects to this Byron Steele fella, maybe they played together, maybe they coached against each other. Or maybe it ain’t got nothin’ to do with nothin’, like them stories that go on and on and you forget where they started. Football, it brings all sorts of folks together, I guess, from all over the world. Sudanese fellas, Texas fellas, all runnin’ around, chasin’ a ball.
So, What’s the Story?
So, what’s the story with Byron Steele football? Well, it’s a bit of a puzzle, ain’t it? A football player, maybe a school, some ESPN folks, cookies and trackers, and a Sudanese coach. It’s all mixed up, like a stew with too many ingredients. But that’s how life is, ain’t it? You just gotta take it all in, try to make sense of it, and move on. Now, football itself…it’s a rough game, I tell ya. All that runnin’ and bumpin’ and crashin’ into each other. Reminds me of them bulls at the county fair, always chargin’ around. But folks seem to like it. They yell and cheer and wave them big foam fingers. And them fellas on the field, they get paid a lot of money, I hear. Enough to buy a whole lotta cookies, that’s for sure.
