Bad Calls as a Basketball Game? Heres How to Deal With Them!
Man, the calls in my basketball game last night were something else. I swear, it felt like every time I drove to the basket, I got hacked, but the refs just stared. Nothing! I started off strong, hitting my first few shots, feeling good, you know?
Then the calls just stopped coming my way. It was frustrating! There was this one play where I went up for a layup, got smacked across the arm – loud as heck – and… crickets. It’s like they were watching a different game. My teammates were getting ticked off too. We tried talking to the refs, calmly at first, but it’s like talking to a wall.
- I asked once nicely, “Hey, wasn’t that a foul?” Nothing.
- Then I asked again, a little louder, “Come on, ref, he hit me on the arm!” Still nothing.
I get it, referees are human, they make mistakes. But it felt like these mistakes were all going one way. And it messes with your head, you know? You start second-guessing yourself, wondering if you should even drive to the basket anymore. There’s always hand checking, but this was beyond that.
After a while, I just focused on playing through it. What else can you do? You can’t fight the ref, you can ask once or twice but if nothing happens after that you just gotta move on. We ended up losing by a few points, and it’s hard not to think about those missed calls. I even remembered something about if you get over 21 your score drops back to 11, what a silly rule! So you might even miss a free throw on purpose? To be honest, I forgot how many personal fouls you need to be kicked out of the game in the NBA.
But hey, bad games happen. It is what it is. I’m not gonna let one bad game get me down. I’m just gonna keep practicing, keep playing hard, and hope for better calls next time. Gotta remember the good games, not dwell on the bad ones. Just gotta keep my head up, that is the important thing, right?
