Okay, so, let’s talk about these white tennis balls. I got curious about them and wanted to try something different on the court. I saw online that they were used way back when, like, hundreds of years ago, and that got me thinking.
First off, I ordered a bunch of these white tennis balls online. When they arrived, they looked kinda strange, all pure white and not the usual yellow we see today. I took them to the tennis court with my buddy, and we started hitting some balls.
- The first thing we noticed was how hard it was to see them against the court lines! No wonder they changed the color to yellow.
- They felt a bit different too, maybe a little softer or something.
- We played for a while, and it was a fun change of pace. It felt like stepping back in time or something.
After our little experiment, we switched back to regular yellow balls. I realized the white ones are probably better for just casual play or maybe some coaching drills where visibility isn’t a huge issue.
I also did some digging later and found out that they switched to yellow in the 70s, you know, for TV and stuff. Makes sense.
All in all, it was a cool little experiment. It’s always fun to try new things and see how stuff used to be. These white balls gave me a new appreciation for the yellow ones we use now. But I can still use them for some casual hitting when I want to feel all vintage.
