Haymaker Golf Course: Is It Beginner-Friendly? A Look at the Course Difficulty

So, I heard about this place called Haymaker Golf Course in Steamboat Springs. Sounds fancy, right? Decided to check it out. This spot is huge, like 233 acres big, and it’s owned by the city. A public course, which is pretty cool.

Drove over to 34855 US Hwy 40 E, where this place is. When I got there, I noticed they have these tee things, at least four for each hole. You can play from like 5,059 to 7, whatever that means. I’m not a pro, just wanted to hit some balls and enjoy the scenery.

  • First off, found a spot to park. Easy enough.
  • Walked into the main building, grabbed a quick snack.
  • Rented some clubs because, well, I didn’t bring any.

I saw some folks using this thing called GolfNow for discounts, but I didn’t bother. Just paid the regular fee and went out. The place has 18 holes, which is a lot, I guess. They call it a “Championship” course. The views were amazing, with all those mountains around.

Spent a few hours there, hitting balls, walking around. It wasn’t too crowded, which was nice. I even saw some wildlife, a deer or something, just chilling in the distance. That was unexpected but pretty cool.

All in all, it was a good day. I mean, I’m not gonna be a pro golfer or anything, but it was fun. The place is well-kept, the staff was friendly enough. If you’re in Steamboat Springs and want to do something outdoorsy, give it a shot. It’s not every day you get to play on a “Championship” course with mountain views, right?

Ended the day feeling pretty good, a little tired but in a good way. Drove back, thinking maybe I should do this more often. It’s a nice break from the usual routine. Plus, I got some decent pictures for my social media. Gotta keep up appearances, you know?

If you ever find yourself near Steamboat Springs, maybe check out Haymaker. It’s a chill way to spend an afternoon, even if you’re not a golf expert like some of those folks out there.

Anyways, that’s my little adventure at Haymaker Golf Course. Thought I’d share since it was a pretty decent experience. Might go back someday, who knows.
