Sorority Jackets AKA Back Styles: Check Out These Cool Designs for Your Chapter!
So, I recently finished a cool project that I’m pretty excited to share. I’ve been wanting to make a custom sorority jacket for a while now, and I finally got around to doing it. It was a bit of a process, but totally worth it in the end. I wanted to show my pride for Alpha Kappa Alpha, you know?
First, I had to figure out what kind of jacket I wanted. I knew I needed something comfy, warm, and that would last a while. After browsing through a bunch of options, I found a style I liked that also had the option for back lettering. That was key because I definitely wanted “AKA” on the back.
Next, I looked into different places that do custom sorority gear. I stumbled upon a few shops that specialize in this kind of stuff, like this one place called Greek Dynasty. They had a bunch of AKA stuff, not just jackets, but also umbrellas, shirts, and crewnecks. It was cool to see all the options for representing the sorority.
I also checked out another spot, Greek Gear, that had a ton of sorority jackets. They had pullovers, zip-ups, you name it. I spent a good amount of time just looking at all the different styles and colors they had.
Once I had a jacket picked out, it was time to think about the design. I knew I wanted the AKA letters on the back, but I also wanted to incorporate some other symbols that represent the sorority. You know, stuff like our motto, “By Culture and By Merit,” and maybe something about our history. We have over 1,074 chapters, after all! It’s a big deal!

After getting the design finalized with the shop, I just had to wait for it to be made and shipped. It felt like forever, but when it finally arrived, I was so stoked! The jacket looked even better than I imagined. The lettering was perfect, the colors were vibrant, and it fit like a dream. It was pretty clear that the people who made this knew what they were doing and cared about the quality.
I’ve been wearing the jacket all over campus, and it’s been a great conversation starter. It’s awesome to be able to rep my sorority in such a cool and personal way. This whole experience just made me even prouder to be a part of Alpha Kappa Alpha. The process was not too bad, either. I was worried it would be hard to do, but it all worked out!
Getting It Done
Honestly, this project was way more fun than I expected. From picking out the jacket to designing the back, it was a blast. And the end result? Totally worth every bit of effort. I’m so happy with how it turned out, and I’d definitely recommend it to any other AKA sisters out there looking to show their pride in a unique way. It was not as complicated as I thought it was going to be, either. I went in thinking I would have trouble, but I found so many sources to help me out!
