Echo Park Tennis Courts: Where to Play and How to Book a Court Without Long Waits or Hassles
Today, I want to share my experience with the Echo Park tennis courts. I’ve been itching to get back on the court lately, and Echo Park seemed like a decent option. I’d heard some mixed reviews, but hey, a court’s a court, right?
First things first, finding the place was pretty straightforward. It’s right there on Glendale Blvd, easy to spot. Parking, however, was a bit of a different story. I ended up circling the block a few times before finally snagging a spot a little ways down. Be prepared for that, especially if you’re going during peak hours.
Once I got to the courts, I noticed there were six of them. They’re public, so no fancy reservations here. It’s all first-come, first-served. I got lucky and managed to grab a court without waiting too long. But I’ve heard that it can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends.
The courts themselves? Well, they’ve seen better days. The surface was a bit worn, and the lines were faded in some spots. Not exactly Wimbledon, but hey, they were still playable. They are hard-courts, which is fine by me. I know some people prefer clay, especially the older folks, but I’m good with a solid hard-court bounce.
I started hitting with a buddy, and we got a decent rally going. No hitting wall, unfortunately, but I wasn’t planning on solo practice anyway. There were a bunch of other people playing, and the vibe was pretty chill. Everyone seemed to be there to have a good time and get some exercise, which is what I was after. No one seems to care about your skill level, just get out there and swing!

Overall, my experience at the Echo Park tennis courts was pretty positive. It’s not the fanciest place, but it gets the job done if you’re looking for a casual game. Just be prepared for potential parking woes and a bit of a wait if it’s busy. It was a nice little outing, got me moving, and reminded me of those little community parks we used to have. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I enjoyed it.
