That rugby glue, you know, for the ball game. My grandson, he plays that rugby, runnin’ around like a headless chicken. He always talkin’ ’bout this rugby glue. Says he needs it for the grip, you see? Grip on that ball. Keeps it from slippin’ out of his hands, I reckon.
They got all sorts of fancy things these days. Back in my day, we just used, well, we didn’t use nothin’. Just held on tight! But this rugby glue, it’s somethin’ else, he says. Makes all the difference when he’s tryin’ to catch and pass that slippery egg-shaped thing.
So, this rugby glue, how to use it? You just spray it on, he says. Spray it on your hands. Like that hairspray stuff, but for your hands. Then you rub your hands together, real good, get it all over. That’s how it works, I guess. Makes your hands all sticky so the ball don’t slip.

This rugby glue, it’s like that other stuff, the Krazy Glue, but not so strong. The boys said this Krazy Glue set too fast, not good for the game. They want somethin’ that gives ’em time to grab that ball and run with it. This rugby glue, it’s different. It’s sticky, but not too sticky. Just right, they say.
They got other things too, like tape. They wrap that tape around their wrists. Makes their wrists stronger, I reckon. Helps with that tackling, you know. Rugby’s a rough game. Lots of pushin’ and shovin’. Gotta be strong to play that game.
But that rugby glue, that’s the main thing, my grandson says. Gotta have that grip. Otherwise, you’re no good. Can’t catch, can’t pass, can’t win. Simple as that.
There is also other choice than the rugby glue, he says. Called that rugby grip mitts. But this glue is better, he said. The mitts is not that good as the glue. They also told me to clean that ball after use, keep that grip last longer, he said. And need to put the ball at a good place when not use.
Now, they got different kinds of this rugby glue, too. Different brands, I guess you’d call ’em. Just like with everything else. Gotta find the one that works best for you, he says. Some are better than others. Some are stickier, some last longer. Gotta try ’em out and see which one you like.
It’s all about that grip, you see. That’s the secret to rugby, he says. Gotta have that grip. And this rugby glue, it helps with that. Makes all the difference. Helps ’em catch better, pass better, play better. That’s what he says, anyway.
I don’t know much about rugby, myself. Just watch him play sometimes. He runs around so fast, I can hardly keep up. But he seems to know what he’s doin’. And if this rugby glue helps him, then I guess it’s a good thing.
They even got different sizes of them balls, you know. Smaller ones for the younger kids, bigger ones for the older boys. And they all use that rugby glue, no matter what size ball they’re playin’ with. Gotta have that grip, no matter what.
So, if you’re playin’ rugby, or your grandson is playin’ rugby, you might want to get some of this rugby glue. Seems to be important. Helps ’em play better, that’s what they say. And who am I to argue? They’re the ones out there runnin’ around, not me.
Just make sure you get the right kind, he says. Not all rugby glue is the same. Do some askin’ around. Find out what the other players are usin’. That’s the best way to know what’s good.
And keep that ball clean, too. He says that’s important. Clean the ball, and that rugby glue will work even better. Makes sense, I suppose. Can’t have a dirty ball, can you? Won’t stick as good.
Well, that’s all I know about that rugby glue. Just what my grandson told me. He’s the expert, not me. I just watch him play and cheer him on. And try to keep up with all this newfangled stuff they got these days. It’s a different world now, that’s for sure.
