This game, what they call Wuthering Waves, it’s a big ol’ world. I tell ya, it’s somethin’. You wake up, they call you Rover, and you gotta just figure things out. My grandson, he’s always on that computer thing, he tried to show me. Said it was an “open-world action RPG,” whatever that means. All I know is there’s a whole lot of runnin’ around and fightin’ things.
My old computer, it don’t run so good. My grandson, bless his heart, he got this thing called an “Asus Rog Ally.” He says it makes the game run better. But sometimes that Wuthering Waves, it just stops and won’t go no more. It’s like my old tractor, always breakin’ down. He said something about some “programs” helped, I don’t know what he did but it looks better than before.
They got these things in the game, they call ’em “Augments.” They’re like, little helpers, I guess. This one’s a “4-Star Rectifier Weapon” or somethin’. Fancy words for somethin’ that makes you stronger, I reckon. They got all these numbers, “stats” they call ’em, and “abilities.” It’s all too much for this old lady’s brain, I just let my grandson handle all that.
You gotta go around, findin’ things, these “Beacons.” And puzzles, like them jigsaw puzzles I used to do with my daughter. They say it helps you with your “Exploration Progress.” Sounds like goin’ on a long walk to me, but with monsters and whatnot.

- Solve them puzzles.
- Makes you go further in the game, they say.
My grandson, he’s always rushin’ through things. He says these “tips” will help you go fast in the game. Especially when you first start, somethin’ about “early game” and “first acts.” Like it’s a play or somethin’.
Sometimes, the game just sits there. A picture on the screen, not doin’ nothin’. My grandson gets all frustrated, says it’s “loading.” Like waitin’ for the cows to come home, I tell ya.
Then there’s this thing, when you do this “Resonance Liberation” whatever that is. It’s like getting stronger after eating some good food, like my homemade apple pie. It says it increases some “ATK” by some percent. I don’t know about all those numbers, but it seems to make you hit harder.

And this “Novice Convene,” somethin’ about “Lustrous Tide” and “Utterance of Marvels.” Sounds like a bunch of hocus pocus to me. But my grandson, he says you can do it 50 times for 40 of these “Lustrous Tides.” Says it’s a “discount.” Like gettin’ a good deal at the farmer’s market, I suppose. Save your Lustrous Tide for Novice Convene, that’s smart.
Then there are these things called “Quests.” The “Main Quests” and “Side Quests”. Like chores, I reckon. Gotta do your chores to get things done. They say it helps you “progress.” And you get “rewards,” like gettin’ paid for your work. And you can’t get stronger, or “level up,” they call it, if you don’t do these Quests. Just like life, you gotta work to get ahead in this Wuthering Waves.
Everything you do, it gives you this “Union EXP.” Like gettin’ experience from livin’ life. Findin’ these “Resonance Beacons,” openin’ “treasure chests,” it all adds up. Just like how every little thing you do in life, it shapes who you are, don’t you know. This is how you augment Wuthering Waves.
- Do Main Quests, Side Quests.
- Get stronger, get rewards.
- Everything gives you “Union EXP.”
- Like getting experience in life.
This game, it’s a lot. Lots of things to do, lots of things to learn. Reminds me of life, in a way. You just gotta keep goin’, keep learnin’, keep gettin’ stronger. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll figure it all out. But don’t ask me to explain all those fancy words, that’s my grandson’s job.
It’s all a bit much for an old lady like me. But hey, if my grandson enjoys it, that’s all that matters. He keeps talkin’ about how he’s gonna “augment” somethin’ in this Wuthering Waves. I just nod and smile. As long as he’s happy, that’s all that matters to me.
