Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this St. John Fisher basketball, you hear? I don’t know much about fancy sports, but I know when folks are gettin’ all riled up about somethin’, it must be important.
So, this St. John Fisher, they got themselves a basketball team, a bunch of young fellas runnin’ around, throwin’ a ball. Seems like a lot of fuss for a ball, but hey, what do I know? The Cardinals, that’s what they call ’em. Sounds fancy, like somethin’ you’d see on them picture shows. They got a schedule and everything. Just like plantin’ crops, they gotta know when to do what.
This “2023-24 Men’s Basketball schedule”, they call it. Official and all. That means someone wrote it down, made it all proper. These fellas gotta play games, lots of ’em. They gotta run and jump and toss that ball. Folks watch ’em, cheer ’em on. Reminds me of a barn raisin’, everyone comin’ together, makin’ a big ol’ ruckus.
- They got scores, too. Numbers all over the place. I ain’t good with numbers, but I reckon the bigger the number, the better they done.
- Then there’s these “box scores.” Sounds like somethin’ you’d keep chickens in, but it ain’t. It’s more numbers, tellin’ ya who did what, how many times they threw that ball in the hoop.
- And highlights! That’s the fancy word for the good parts. Like when you’re makin’ jam, you pick out the best berries. These highlights, they show you the best throws, the best runs, the best jumps.
You can watch these fellas on somethin’ called “ESPN.” I don’t have one of them fancy boxes, but my neighbor’s grandson does. He says it shows you all sorts of things, includin’ these basketball games. They got “live scores” too. That means you know what’s happenin’ right then and there. Like listenin’ to the rooster crow, you know it’s mornin’.
They talk about “stats” and “standings.” Stats is just more numbers, I guess. And standings, well, that’s like where they sit in the pecking order. Who’s doin’ good, who’s doin’ bad, who’s in the middle. Kinda like who got the biggest pumpkins at the county fair.
This * place, they got all the scores too. Sounds like a newspaper, but on that there internet thingy. My niece showed me how to use it once. Too much clickin’ and tappin’ for my old hands, but it’s got all the info, they say.
Seems like these Cardinals play a lot of games. They got a schedule for last year too, the “2022-2023” one. So they been doin’ this for a while, runnin’ and jumpin’ and throwin’ that ball. And they played against somethin’ called “Buffalo DI”. Don’t know what that is but it’s more teams and more games. Seems like a whole lot of work for a game, but if it makes folks happy, I guess it’s alright.
And you can get all the news and rumors too. Rumors are like gossip, you know? Folks talkin’ about what might happen, who might do what. Just like at the general store, everyone’s got somethin’ to say. You can even “personalize your scores and news”, they say. That means you can pick and choose what you wanna see. Like pickin’ out the best apples from the barrel. They even got local teams, but this here * Fisher seems like a big deal.
So, that’s the lowdown on this St. John Fisher basketball. A bunch of fellas, a ball, lots of games, lots of numbers, and lots of folks watchin’. It ain’t my cup of tea, but it sure gets folks excited. And that’s somethin’ to see, ain’t it?
They play hard and try to win, just like we all do in life, whether it’s farmin’ or sellin’ goods or whatever. It’s all about workin’ hard and doin’ your best, and I reckon that’s what these Cardinals fellas are doin’.
