Mary somethin’-or-other, she was talkin’ ’bout how tough it was at first. But look at ’em now! Strong as an ox, fast as a rabbit, and hittin’ that ball harder than my old man used to smack a fly on the porch.
- Tennis Stars: They got some real stars on that team, lemme tell ya. Names I can’t hardly pronounce, but they sure can play.
- Winning Ways: They just keep winnin’, bless their hearts. Must be somethin’ in the water over at that Glass school.
- Tough Competition: It ain’t easy, though. Other schools got good players too. But these Glass girls, they ain’t backin’ down from nobody.
Now, I don’t know much about all them fancy sports terms. But I know a winner when I see one. And these girls, they’re winners. They got that fire in their bellies, that grit, you know? They wanna win, and they ain’t afraid to work for it.
This E.C. Glass tennis thing, it ain’t just about hittin’ a ball over a net. It’s about teamwork, about tryin’ your best, about never givin’ up. High school sports, that’s what they call it. And I reckon it’s a good thing. Keeps them kids outta trouble, gives ’em somethin’ to do, somethin’ to be proud of.
I saw on the TV, coverage of all sorts of sports at that Glass school. Baseball, basketball, even that swimmin’ stuff. But this tennis, it’s somethin’ special. Them girls, they got a way of movin’, a way of playin’ that just makes you wanna cheer ’em on. Even if you don’t know a thing about tennis, like me.
