Well, let me tell ya about these golfer hats, or whatever them fancy folks call ’em. I seen all sorts, ya know? Young fellas wearin’ ’em, old fellas wearin’ ’em, even the ladies get in on the action sometimes.
First off, there’s those baseball-lookin’ ones. They got that round top and that hard flappy thing stickin’ out in front. Keeps the sun outta your eyes, I guess. You see ’em everywhere, not just on the golf course. Kids wearin’ ’em backwards, sideways, all sorts of crazy ways. They come in all kinda colors too. Red, blue, green, even got them fancy ones with the team logos and stuff. Heck, I seen one with a fish on it the other day. A fish! Can ya believe it?
Then you got them flat ones, kinda like what them old-timey fellas used to wear. Some folks call ’em driver caps, or paddy caps, or even them funny names like “scally cap” or “ivy cap.” Sound like somethin’ you’d find growin’ in the woods! These ones are more… well, more refined, I guess you could say. They ain’t as loud as them baseball hats. Usually made outta some scratchy wool stuff, or maybe that tweed stuff. I tell ya, they look warm, though. Probably good for keepin’ your head warm on a chilly day. I seen a fella wearin’ one of them tweed ones at the market last week. Looked like he was straight outta one of them old movies.
- Baseball caps: Round top, stiff front, all sorts of colors and logos.
- Flat caps/Driver caps: Flat top, usually made of wool or tweed, look warm.
- Trucker hats: Got that mesh stuff in the back, good for keepin’ your head cool.
- Visors: Just the front part, no top, keeps the sun off your face but lets your head breathe.
And then there’s them trucker hats. Now, them’s somethin’ else. They got that regular hat part in the front, but the back is all made outta that mesh stuff. You know, like a net. I guess that’s so your head can breathe. Makes sense, I reckon, if you’re out there in the sun all day. I seen a fella wearin’ one with a big ol’ patch on the front. Said somethin’ about trucks, I think. Or maybe it was tractors. Hard to say, my eyes ain’t what they used to be.
Oh, and let’s not forget them visor things. They ain’t really hats, are they? Just that front part, with nothin’ on top. Keeps the sun outta your eyes, but leaves the top of your head bare. I seen some ladies wearin’ them fancy ones with sparkles and all sorts of doodads on ’em. Shiny things, they was. Pretty, I guess, but not very practical if you ask me. What if it rains? Your hair’ll get all wet!
So, yeah, there’s all kinds of golfer hats out there. You got your fancy ones, your plain ones, your sporty ones, and your… well, your not-so-practical ones. I reckon it just depends on what you like and what you’re doin’. Me? I just wear a good ol’ bonnet when I’m out in the sun. Keeps my head cool and keeps the sun off my face. Can’t be beatin’ that, I tell ya.
But if you’re gonna go play that golf game, I guess you gotta have one of them fancy hats. Makes ya look the part, I suppose. Just make sure ya pick one that fits good and keeps the sun outta your eyes. And maybe one that ain’t too flashy. Unless you want folks lookin’ at your hat more than your golf swing, that is.
I tell ya, these young fellas these days, they spend more time worryin’ about what they look like than actually playin’ the game. But that’s just me talkin’. You do what ya gotta do, I always say. And if that means wearin’ a hat with a fish on it, well, then you go right ahead and wear that hat with a fish on it. Just don’t expect me to understand it!
Now, where did I put my bonnet… Ah, here it is. Gotta go weed the garden before it gets too hot. These hats are fine and dandy, but nothin’ beats a good ol’ bonnet for keepin’ the sun off your neck.
