I reckon that’s what makes a good quarterback, someone who don’t let a little dirt or a few bruises slow ‘em down. He was out there in a big state semifinal game, runnin’ around and tryin’ to keep things goin’ for his team, even when it got real tough. But in the end, that game didn’t go their way neither. The other team, Nazareth, they ended up winning. But like I said, them boys from St. Francis, they don’t just roll over. They fight ‘til the very end.
Now, it ain’t always about win or lose, sometimes it’s about what you learn and how you grow. Every year, them boys play their hardest, and they get better, win or lose. I reckon that’s what the coaches tell ‘em: ‘Ya gotta keep your heads up, no matter how the game turns out.’ And that’s how it goes with St. Francis football. It’s all about tryin’ your best and playin’ with heart, no matter what the scoreboard says at the end of the game.
